Duke Admissions Process

Published

I kind of tried to search this but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, (sorry if this is a repeat thread)

I applied to the Duke ABSN program, and I've got an interview comming up. Anyone have any advice? Anyone gone through the whole process of applying, or the program? I really love what I've seen of Duke so far - and want to go there!

I haven't been able to find any statistics either (average grades, how many apply, get interviews, get accepted).

Anyone know anything?

THANKS!

This sucks big time for all of you - hang in there; I know it's hard but keep the faith. Waitlisted means the door is still open; what stinks is that other schools may be requiring answers in the mean time.

As an alumni I am always here; if there's anything I can do please let me know.

anyone find out where they are on the waitlist yet?

Nope, Melissa said when I emailed her on Feb 28 that it would be 2 weeks before they had everybody ranked on the waitlist. I plan on emailing her the end of next week to see what the status is.

Hey all,

I just joined this forum. I, too, applied to the ABSN program and was waitlisted. They did rankings yesterday and I found out that I am #8 out of 50 on the waitlist. I am cautiously optimistic, but thought I would be in good shape if I was in the top 20.

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks so much for your post nygirlatheart, I wasn't planning on emailing until next week to find out my ranking! I was ranked #12 so I am keeping my fingers crossed! The email I got from Melissa said "We can't predict exactly when or if you will be pulled, but it is a good likelihood." Let's hope so!

I was just getting ready to post about this! Something told me to email Melissa and check this morning, and I was suprised when she replied to say that they had just finished the rankings! I am #6 on the list, so I too am cautiously optimistic. Good luck to all! I will keep updating as I hear new news :nuke:

Hey all on the waitlist -

I just got some more info for everyone. I emailed Melissa asking when the deadline is for accepted students to give their decisions, and also how many people they have taken from the waiting list in the past. This is what she said:

"Well, in about 2 more weeks, we should have heard from most of them.

In the past, we have pulled different numbers, based on the applicant pool, however last year we pulled about 20-30 people."

So hopefully it will be the same this year and we'll all be in!

Thanks OBX. That makes me feel a lot better.

There's one commonality in your places and my own - all are divisibles of my own - 24. I was told 60+ on the list though. Perhaps the commonality will carry on into my getting pulled as well. However, I did get the tidbit from her that they haven't had as many declines... as opposed to when, who knows. I'm sure there will always be those who may accept (for "security" with it being their first acceptance or an earlier response) then decline for perhaps financial or regional issues among others. We'll see... as we wait :)

Good job thus far making the interview cut and waitlist as apparently there have indeed been a number of eliminations. :yeah: Thanks all. Best wishes!

Hey it looks like we're in the same boat at this point, but it sounds promising. There must be something about the number 24?!?! I will count it as pretty luck myself. Well, I will obviously post if I hear anything at any time, I'm gonna give Melissa a week before I bug her again (although she swears I am not bothering her, I always feel like I am). Good luck to us all!

Hi All! I just wanted to let everyone know that Melissa informed me that if we are pulled off the wait list, we will receive an email with the admit letter just like the initial notification. I wasn't sure what to expect, but now I will obessively checking my email for the next few weeks!

Thanks for the info Vita! Please post if/when you hear something! Since you are ahead of me on the list, I won't start obsessively checking my email until after you've heard something ;)

I'm on the waitlist too. I called over a week ago when I recieved the letter, and they said to call back in about a week, to see where I stand. This weeks been busy. I plan on calling monday.

Anybody find out anything yet?
