I interviewed last fall, was accepted, and choose to defer. They explained at the interview that everyone who is there is there because they are qualified and its all about whether or not you and duke are a good fit for each other. The concept really helped me with my nerves. Most of the questions came from my personal statement and the general mission and such. Why you want to go? Why is duke for you? etc. If your going to interview in person just remember to introduce your self, good posture, focus, interested...etc. Also, (dont quote me, this is only if I remember correctly from the financial aid thing they did at last years interview day) the tuition through Duke is only available as a loan reimbursement every year on the paycheck matching your year of employment date. Taxes are taken out of it. However, UNC hospital overs a program that pays up front. Its like 24K for 2 years, 30 for 3 something like that. BUT you must apply early in the program, and if you change your mind you owe all the money +intrust. My tour guide did the UNC hospital, but the advisors seem to advice against it? as you could end up changing your mind. Hope that helps!

I do the same thing. Spygirl, did you call Melissa to find out you had moved up to #16, or you are just tracking it on the board? Congrats on moving up the list. I'm just trying to figure out where I am, with out calling her or emailing her again. I think if I thought there was nothing wrong with it, I'd call every day! I seemed to have called later than everyone else too. My original # was 10, but if you've moved 11 (unless someone in between us dropped off), that would put me as in? Maybe I had moved up before I called in? oh well.

Well, I just got off the phone with Melissa. I was going to wait to call, since I just called Friday....but after seeing the updates, I decided to go ahead and call. Some one just posted that we've moved at least two spots...It's actually three spots! I was #6 on Friday and now I'm #3. So everyone is movin' on up!!!!

More good news... When I talked to her, she said that she can't say anything for sure, but typically they do make it as far as I am on the list, so theres a good chance. Goodluck! Everyone keep updating!

So I called Melissa just a few minutes ago (4:00p) I've moved up to #6...so I guess everyone jumped up a spot or two as well!!!!

Well, I haven't call back yet, but if i was # 10, and everyone seemed to move up, and the previous poster is now number 10, I guess that makes me #8. I'll call and bug Melissa later today. She really is fabulous. Just think about how many people must be calling her for there ranking and she's just so nice and encouraging about it! Goodluck ya'll!

YAY! for loving your job! :-) I called Melissa today, I'm ranked 10th. I believe she said they are 70 people on the waiting list. Does that seem like alot to anyone else? (Dont want to start rumors - I could have mis heard that) She said a majority of people accepted should respond within the next week or two, However, they just sent a nother batch of acceptance letters out, sooooo It could be a while. In addition she said the classes arent finalized till end of may / beggining of June. And people can drop out of the program, or off the wait list at any time up until that point (which would affect your ranking) I'm not sure I'm fond of this waiting game.....it's like being in limbo!

So I feel retarded. When I get notifications in my emails, it brings me to like page four of the convo. So I posted my last post without knowing there was four more pages. Lol. So I will definetly be calling! THANKS

I'm on the waitlist too. I called over a week ago when I recieved the letter, and they said to call back in about a week, to see where I stand. This weeks been busy. I plan on calling monday. Anybody find out anything yet?

This whole waiting thing is killing me!!!!

I was 17 when i started school for my first degree. Graduated At 20. And currently working on two pre-reqs (which i did'nt have with prior degree), hopefully I'll start school this fall at 21.
