Duke ABSN Fall 2019

Thread for the incoming 2019 Duke ABSN applicants so we can help each other out through the application process.

Hey-

I'm wondering if you've seen or have applied through the new application interface. If so, I had two questions that you might be able to help me with:

1. Correct me if i'm wrong (or blind!) but is there an essay? I didn't see one.

2. I cannot tell if my recommendation has been uploaded. Maybe my recommenders just haven't submitted it yet, but I'm wondering if we are able to tell once it has.

I tried calling (no answer) and ended up sending an email instead. No reply :\

The essays appear in the summary section after you submit the initial application. You upload them separately. As far as recommendations, when you log in, you can click 'Applications' then 'Summary' and it'll show you which recommendations they've received!

Hope this helps :)

Is anyone else concerned about the cost of the program? I worked with a nurse for many years who graduated from the Duke ABSN program and she always raved about it. She has been encouraging me to apply to Duke since I talked about going back to school for my true passion, and now what will be my 2nd career. I mean, there must be someway, or else they wouldn't graduate 2 cohorts a year from the program, right? (loans, yes... I mean, loans above and beyond federal offerings)

Good luck to everyone!

I received an email that a recommendation letter was submitted and it had the name for which one they received

Has anyone had any problems with the new application system showing that transcripts have been received?

Hey everyone! This thread is kind of sleepy but I just submitted my application for Duke ABSN fall 2019. Lots of essays but now we can relax and wait. Good luck to everyone!

Hi hanksey, I'm having trouble finding the submit button on the page where we upload our supplemental documents. I already submitted the initial application, but how do I confirm that my supplemental documents have been submitted? Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi Ikatbi, I don't think there is a submit button. If your documents say 'received', you should be good! All of mine are received except the official transcripts, because the website said they don't need those until you are accepted. Hope that helps!

Hi! I just noticed on my application portal that under status mine changed to "ready for review" instead of "submitted" when all of my documents were accounted for

Hello! I'm a bit concerned since my status hasn't changed to "ready to review". I have all my documents submitted except for my official transcripts; I was under the impression that we don't need to submit those until we are admitted. RMhopeful93, do you already have your official transcripts turned in?

Yes, I was confused as to whether or not they were necessary so I sent them just in case

Update: for anyone who had the issue I stated above, call the admissions office as soon as you can so they can manually mark your application as "ready to review". For some reason, their self-service portal doesn't take into account that official transcripts aren't required from applicants yet. Without the "ready to review" annotation, the school will not consider your application. Good luck to you all!
