I got the generic email, too, that mine was submitted frm NursingCAS. I did not receive any other email, though... I wonder if that means it's been released to the school after they verify it? I'll be on the lookout.

What part of NY? I'm from NY state originally! Interesting about the Castle branch part. I'll look into the Drake West Village part, thanks! I'll let you know all about my visit if all goes to plan and I get to go next month or Feb. Because of my work schedule and being on the West Coast, so 2 hrs behind Iowa, I am not able to attend any of their "Virtual Visits" - I was hoping to be able to do that. I definitely am planning to live 'off campus' - their on campus housing is actually 'regular' apartments in that non-students/anyone can rent from them, apparently. From what i see online they're quite a bit more expensive, and being there are so many good options (at least according to the internet) in downtown Des Moines and also just outside of dt (the financial aid counselor I spoke with said 10-15 min drive outside of downtown/away from the school and can get nice apartment with rents in the $500's!, crazy). Cool for the FB group.. I'm actually perhaps one of the very few people who still do not have any type of social media accounts or a smartphone! Yes, I'm living in 1999 I actually have spoken with one student who is current, just started (in her 2nd-8 week term). She said she likes it so far, but of course has little experience as of yet. I emailed her again last week - I'll let you know if I hear back. I think she'd be done with or wrapping up the 2nd 8 weeks by now.

They had 6 of mine (I have taken classes at 7 schools over the past 15 years, crazy, I know!) from earlier this year because I was going to apply to another program but didn't end up meeting all of the criteria. I took microbiology a couple of months ago and they marked that one being received on Nov 22nd. So when I submitted my application last week all of my transcripts were marked received, but not yet verified.

I just got an email from NursingCAS that my coursework has been verified, and my application also says verified. I submitted on the 5th, so ~5 days. Hopefully you guys are also receiving emails soon.

I was thinking the same thing! It looks like in past years conversation picked up in January. I wonder if the deadline is earlier this year, since at least last year based on the thread interviews were in late Feb, and this year they're scheduled for Feb 1. I hope it means we'll hear something in 4-6 weeks! Is anyone else applying from out of state?

Hi! So glad to see someone else on here about this school. I did apply and am also accepted for Summer 2020 - however, since I apparently applied way, way too early (I applied in June), I haven't received all of the official stuff in the mail. I was told it would come after they finished up with the Spring semester. I would be coming from out of state. I am from the East coast, but moved to the west coast for my job almost 3 years ago. The cost of living seems to be very reasonable, compared to the last 2 cities I've lived in. Apparently scholarship applications for Summer won't open up until around March, I think they said. Being a 2nd degree program, I'm really not counting on much in terms of that. Have you actually visited the school? Or are you also coming from out of state? I am planning to try to visit the school and check out the area (apartments and such) in Feb.

Fingers crossed! I hope your school is one that allows electronic official transcripts. Most of the schools I've attended did have electronic, but one did not. It took longer, but not as long as I thought it would. NursingCAS notified it had arrived about a week later.

The last comment didn't let me finish before replying! Let's try again. Yes, they still need to be verified. I actually wrote NursingCAS asking and this was their response: "Applications go through the verification process each year. As you have submitted your application, you will receive an email once this application has become verified. The processing time is no longer than 2 weeks." Hopefully the deadline is just to have all submitted, not everything also verified.

Hi! I am so happy to find people talking about this program and school. Congrats to you all getting in and beginning this next life chapter! I applied for this Fall but had to defer until next year, beginning of May start. I will be quitting my full time job and moving as well - I currently live ~2000 miles away. I would very much appreciate learning about your experiences in your first semester in the program, and also if you have any recommendations for complexes/areas to live in Des Moines.

Hi everyone - congrats to all who got in! I was planning to apply to the Fall 2020 start night/weekend program, but I am now really considering applying now for the January start. Has anyone who's been accepted received any information yet about the schedule or orientation date? Also, were all of your Nutrition classes taught by a dietitian? Did you have to submit your syllabus? Thanks! Jenifer

Holy Family University ABSN Fall 2019

Hi everyone I am planning to apply to the night and weekend program that beings in January. I have a couple of questions: For anyone who was accepted (regular or night/weekend) - was your nutrition class NOT taught by a dietitian? If anyone started the night/weekend program - how do you like it? I work full time and really need to continue working full time, so the night/weekend option definitely appeals to me. Thank you! Jenifer

@cait96 - I am planning to apply to HF and was strongly considering the night/weekend program. How do you like the program so far? Also, where have you guys done clinicals so far? Also, if there is anyone else who is in the night/weekends option, what has been your experience and would you recommend it? Thank you!
  15. Hi Adrack - thanks for sharing this advice. My biggest worry, if I am lucky enough to get in, is paying for the program. How has the school been with that process? The amount is over what you can borrow federally - did they offer assistance with where to obtain the required loans for tuition? Not to mention covering somewhere to live and food to eat... Thanks!
  16. Hi! I am actually currently living in Seattle and I'm applying to JH for Fall 2019 entry. I assume you're going since you got in? Have they helped navigate the loan process/how to pay for the program? That is my biggest worry, if I were to actually get in. I have approx 40k out from my masters program. You live and learn, though... and nursing is absolutely what I want to do. NP my goal, eventually. Any advice you have or what you've learned through the process is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
