Duke ABSN Fall 2014 Hopefuls

I applied to the Duke SON ABSN program for the Fall of 2014. Anyone else out there who is applying for the same cohort? I saw that last year, the applicants got their interview/Duke Days letters at the end of January... hopefully we'll hear back soon! Good luck to everyone!

mzjazberri did you receive the email?? - they said that in person interviews scheduled for the 14th are welcome to move to the 21st or 28th duke days. Yes you should call for sure, email might not be a fast response!

Thanks you guys! I did receive the e-mail and at first, I said the 21st but the 28th is a better date. But I am going to call Monday morning.

Hi healer's art, would you share some details about the group and one-on-one interviews with us? I am so nervous about the interview because my first language is not english and I really want to be prepared for the interviews. Thanks so much!!

Yes, I can answer any questions you have about Duke Days. I can try answer some about the program itself but I've been a ABSN student for a month :) I do know they have mentioned they are making changes to the curriculum, so that is something you'll want to pay attention to when they speak about it.

For us the last Duke Days was July 29 and decisions for people accepted during the 1st round were release on August 23. People accepted during the second round I believe had to wait another month after that.

They purposely tell us not to reveal what's asked during the group interview. But it's just fun and low key. I think they are trying to get personalities and see if people are a good fit. For the individual interviews they basically ask you the questions the personal essays asked about. The interviewers don't have access to your personal statement so you can repeat that information if you'd like. It's the same questions most people ask...why nursing, what you bring to the program, strengths, weaknesses, etc. I don't recall the details exactly but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

Hey BlueGirl. I would try to call them and see if you can get an update about your status on the waitlist. Also, check the old trend Duke 2013 and maybe there might be people who were in the same position as you.
