  1. I want to say at the end of the day, the only thing that matters for a patient is that his or her nurse is compassionate, kind and caring regardless of your beliefs or nonbeliefs. I work with people from all walks of life. As long as you respect me,I respect you. I am not a nurse yet but I will Always treat my patients and colleagues -ALL of them with respect and kindness. I would expect the same from them.

Hi All, After a long delay regarding some missing documents, my application is finally going to be reviewed. I almost wanted to give up but I am glad I didn't. I was told that I would hear something as soon as possible. I am glad that next week it will be reviewed. I am excited and I am praying for good news.

Hi Tmonet21, Don't freak out. You still have a few days to study. Just relax. Above all pray. Ask God to help you understand the material while you're studying. Don't over study. Before you enter the test center, take a moment to relax and trust God. Believe me I trusted in Him and I passed on the first try and did better than expected. I'll be praying for you.

Hello everyone, I received the link for the criminal background check form. I had 48 hours to complete it and pay the fee. I finished it and sent the form along with the fee an hour ago. I'm sure my record is clean. Now it's time to wait again. It looks like everything is going well so far with the process. :)

I received an email and call that my application documents have been received from them. I will be informed of any missing items, which I hope is not the case. By the end of this week,I should receive an email link to the criminal background form to do online. I will get it done and submit on the same day I receive it with the fee. Staying in faith. :)

Which specialty would you like to end up in?

For me it would be Pediatric, OB/GYN, or Oncology. Since I love kids, I am leaning towards Pediatrics and because I would also love to be involved in delivering babies probably be on Obstetrics RN.

    Duke ABSN Fall 2014 Hopefuls

Thanks for the encouragement DukeRN87. I am happy to say that I submitted my application for Spring 2015 and my financial aid forms. It's just the waiting is killing me! I don't know where I am on the waiting list however, it's sad many are denying thier admission to Duke because of the price but for me all I care about doing the program because I have an opportunity to learn a lot and become an RN in less time than the traditional 4-year program. I am confident that I will be admitted for Spring 2015 if not by fall 2014. Staying in faith.... :-)

    Duke ABSN Fall 2014 Hopefuls

Hi DukeRN87, I applied for the Fall 2014 ABSN program and now I am on the waiting list. I have not heard anything. I talked to admissions and they said my best option would be to apply for Spring 2015 which is what I am doing now. My question is do I have chance since my GPA is not 4.0 but I have a lot work experience working in a medical environment especially externing at a hospital working under RN's and receiving commendation from one of the head nurses of a Cancer unit. What is it that the admissions committee look at when accepting a person into the program? I just want to know because although I am on the waiting list, I have no idea what number I am and no one is telling me anything. Please advise. Thanks.
