Drug Test Question

This will probably sound ridiculous...but here goes..

I have a job interview tomorrow to work for a hospital lab. I dont use drugs, but I have recently hung out with some folks that do smoke weed. I know the chance of coming up positive is low since I did not smoke, but PER CHANCE it DOES, will this effect me in the future when I need to do clinicals there for nursing?

If you didnt smoke then you wont have a problem...and not to sound rude or anything but maybe you should consider the friends you keep. I mean your goin to nursing school...bottom line if you dont wanna run the risk then don't hang out with people that do....

I agree. If you're hanging out with people doing anything illegal, you are taking a chance of getting arrested right along with them, even if you aren't doing anything.

This would hurt you on your background check for nursing school.

Let us know how it turns out. I hope it comes up clean, and you get your job. :)

In total agreement with the above posters. :)

You shouldn't have a problem as positive drug tests for jobs aren't ever (at least I've never heard of it being) reported to police. Now, if this is possibly a future clinical site and you come up positive then...I dunno. But your chances of actually coming up positive are slim unless you were in a closet will 5 people burnt through an ounce of the stuff.

No...of course you shouldn't ever be under the influence of drugs while working, but some of the best people I know have smoked weed and have done other stuff. I even know a few doctor's who do...yes, you're reading that right. ...and noooooooo they're not high on the job.... good lord... I can just imagine the responses to this.... everyone else here is a saint and people who smoke weed are evil... yada yada yada.....

Actually, that may not be true. I had a co-worker and she had done the same thing, was around people who smoked but she didnt'. She had to take a drug test, she came up POSITIVE. I hope this doesn't happen to you. Like the other poster said, be careful of the company you keep.
