Drexel Univ ACE Program

Published

Hey! I noticed that someone requested information on this program. I start Drexel's accfelerated BSN program in March and was just wondering how it is - if anyone has graduated from the program and has any info, opinions, suggestions... I'd love to hear about it! Feel free to write me a PM also! Thanks!

I have a question for current ACE students. Do you have a set schedule? I haven't heard anything about times of classes, etc. Just curious...Thanks, Amanda

Yes, you do have a set schedule. For your first semester you'll have classes w/ everyone in your section, which is done alphabetically. Your 2nd-3rd quarter you have classes every mon & tues from 8-4:30 pm and clinicals wed, thurs, friday. Your 4th quarter you won't have any clinical on friday but class for 4-5 hours. Everything else for the 4th quarter is pretty much the same as 2nd and 3rd. Of course, they may change things by the time you are in your 3rd, 4th quarter. You'll get your schedule probably the week before orientation, or at orientation. Best of luck to you!

I am also in the fall program at Drexel and plan to commute from NJ. Tidbits I learned after several calls to Drexel last week. July 24th is the date they actually register students for the fall ACE program, orientation is Sept 8-10, and more info was being mailed out this week.

Yes - your schedule is written in stone. Don't let them scare you at the orientation. For some reason, they spend a lot of time convincing you that you made a big mistake. Oh - and expect to hate the program. I mean HATE it. It's a big pain in the ***, disorganized and often silly with it's truly rediculous reading requirements and mountains of busywork. Just focus on the fact that you'll be done in eleven months and you'll make some good friends in the program!

What do you want to know?

Spend about 20 minutes doing your health history and about 20 minutes doing your assessment and 5 minutes to wrap it up. I taugh along the way. I still have my outline- let me know if you want it...

The actors will lead you- they will say things that make you say-HMMMM- and you need to ask the right questions...

Hi there!! Just wanted to thank you for the info you emailed to me. Yeah, I passed!!...Only 3 more weeks left, finals, a Hesi, and the boards.. I can't wait.

Starting the ACE program Sept '04 and I just received a hefty packet from Drexel including computer requirements. My computer meets the standards set by Drexel but it is firmly planted on my desk at home and I am a commuter. Will I need a laptop?

Hello. No, you don't have to have a laptop- but I bring one to class and find it easier. The campus is wireless so you get internet access. Also, the lectures are all on powerpoint which I download and then type my notes right into them. It saves me time from printing it all. It also saves me money from the printer ink and paper. But, most people just print the lecture notes out the night before and hand write notes. It's whatever works for you.

Hello,

I applied to the Drexel ACE program in May for the class starting in march. It's august and I have not heard or received a decision yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for the admission committee to review and notify candidates whether they've been accepted or not? For those that are in the program, was it this long to hear from the admission's office? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. All I've heard so far is that we should be getting a decision soon and this was approximately a month and half ago.

Thanks.

Application to acceptance to the Drexel ACE program took exactly 2 months. I phoned after one month and found out my app. was on hold due to missing paperwork. Sorted out the missing paper and received an acceptance letter one month later. Good luck!

Hey I was wondering if anyone got information yet on Orientation for Fall and our schedules? I got that big packet yesterday on New Student info but nothing about the ACE program. Thanks for any info you have.

Hi Alysce,

Just before the big packet arrived I received info on orientation Sept 8-9-10 which is mandatory, PDA software list and class schedule for the fall quarter. Letter includes the following name and number as a contact for questions: Peggy Breslin 215-762-7616.

See you soon,

Hello fellow ACE students. I am in the 3rd quarter ACE right now and graduate in September (god-willing). Don't let anyone scare you. It is totally possible and you do learn a lot. You do have to do most of the readings to pass the tests, especially for Adult Health. They try to make the tests NCLEX oriented but the problem is they don't teach that way. You'll see for yourselves. But, don't let anyone scare you, especially the professors. I personally do not study all weekend (and am getting good grades & clinical reviews) and have had time for fun but it is exhausting during the week! Let me know if you have any questions! Best of luck to you. :) :)

I just applied at Drexel today. I am curious to what the clinical review is. Are all the classes online? Do you have to do practicum somewhere? How hard do you think the program is? Are the online exams timed or can you take them at your on pace? I know Pheonix University does not do exams, it is more like writing papers. Would you recommend it? I know I will completely devote myself to study. I have taken a few online courses and I seem to do better at them. I look forward to your response. :p
