Hey! I noticed that someone requested information on this program. I start Drexel's accfelerated BSN program in March and was just wondering how it is - if anyone has graduated from the program and has any info, opinions, suggestions... I'd love to hear about it! Feel free to write me a PM also! Thanks!
I spoke with the advisor, Ms. Breslin, on Monday. The $24,000 is tution. It doesn't include the $1600 that is required for 1st quarter for lab fees, etc. I received my financial aide package on last Friday. It states that the cost is $26,200. I questioned Ms. Breslin about the increase. She did not know about it. She states that the information concerning the class should be sent out this week. I have asked her about this twice during the last 2 weeks and she states it is coming. Also, we have a mandatory 2 day orientation starting Sept. 13, my birthday! I told her that I need to get this info because I have to make moving arrangements since I am out of state. Also, we talked about the books. She stated that we should wait to purchase them after orientation and not to open the bubble wrap until the first day of class, in case the instructors change their mind.
Sometimes, I think that I am crazy for doing this, however, whenever I look at my history, I have always either worked a lot of hours and went to school or something. My life was always busy! I can do this. It just that it will be along rode without working and having money. I have been taking care of myself since about 13 years old.
I'm right there with you!!!!!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! good to know that we'll be riding in the same boat. I too start in the fall. Fasten your seat belt, from what I've heard from others its gonna be a bumpy ride. Did you apply for fasfa yet? Sallymae and NextStudent.com has good rates as well.Kind regards,
Sherley
Has Drexel/Sally Mae contacted you with any info. I called Sallie Mae and they told me I was approved credit wise, but Drexel had to approve that I needed that money. But Drexel just sent me a folder with how much FAFSA gave me and how much more I was eligble for from private loans. Sallie Mae also told me not to call Drexel and that they were calling on my behalf. Whatev! I hate financial aid...I'm totally confused
Hi everybody--I am just wondering about financial aid/scholarships for the ACE program. Are all of you just taking out loans? I already have $15,000 worth of loans from my other degree and am a little freaked out about going further into debt, especially since i couldn't possibly work during the program. What other routes have people taken to pay for the program besides loans?

Hi Samatha,
That is the concern of everyone who will be attending the ACE program. There are work commitment options that the surrounding hospitals in Philadelphia are giving to people who want to commit to work at their hospital for a number of years. Also PHEAA is forgiving up to $12,000 if you work for one on the hospital listed on their site. You can obtain more detail @ this link http://www.pheaa.org/loanforgiveness/healthier_futures_guidelines.shtml
hop this helped out a little.
Kind Regards,
sherley
Yikes - they upped it to $24K?? They just raised it to $22K last quarter.GOOD ADVICE about the books. The Profs do not pick the textbooks and some of them will only use one of the four that you've been told to purchase.

Is it 24K for the whole program's tuition or 24K for each semester?

Hey- I'm starting my last quarter ACE (yeah- last final was today) and about the books- I recommend to buy them online at ecampus.com, or half.com- their used and cheaper. Also you'll probably see signs posted for my other fellow students selling their books. I'll tell you right now that for 1st semester Nursing in society and the Health Promotion books were a waste. But, it's up to you. Good luck and yes, you can do it- trust me.
You hand in there! You are almost there! What advice would you give to us?
