The show was about people that have survived tragedies in their lives, and one of them was his sis-in-law. What made me post this here is the comments he kept making about nurses being the backbone of healthcare, and that we are the heroes to the patients or something like that; sorry, can't remember it word for word. I just thought is was really great and SOOOOOO true of course! Thanks Dr. Phil! You gave our profession a great boost in front of the millions of people who faithfully watch your show!

:) I saw Dr. Phil today and he couldn't say enough good about nurses. I guess he was trying to make up for some negative remarks he made a few months ago. He defiantly did the trick. He must have said that nurses are the backbone of the healthcare world at least 100 times:chuckle . He even had a cna on that had taken care oh his sister in law after being severly burned. I like Dr. Phil, I think he is a good ole texas boy.

the dr. phil show to me, has become shock tv. I have no real use for it at all. But I am glad he took the opportunity to praise nurses/nursing. whether I like it or not, he is a powerful media figure and this was a good thing for us, in that regard.

As one who has been in the patient bed recovering from surgery, I agree. There's nothing quite like a nurse to help one feel better than a nurse....
What they say can be as comforting as what they do... :)

Why wouldn't he say it? It's the truth.
