Has anyone listened to this new podcast? First 3 available, 3 more yet to be released:
Dr. Death – Wondery – Feel The Story
I never heard this on the news, probably would have if I lived in Texas.
Could never have happened if doctors were held to the same standards as nurses.
Yes, that's what I thought... they KNEW he was unsafe at the very least, and just let him be someone else's problem. The double standard is unbelievable. A nurse can be accused of something and lose her license/career without any evidence presented. This guy?? It makes my head spin trying to figure out how many people let him keep going.
I disagree that there is a double standard here. Michael Cullen was one of the most prolific serial killers and a nurse. Most facilities which he worked at knew something was going on but were afraid of a criminal case. There was also recently the nursing home nurse... can't remember her name... she actually confessed to more than one person she was overdosing people (one of them a member of her chruch? I believe), and no one reported her. Although different than purposefully hurting someone, studies have come up saying that a good percent of nurses know of another nurse they deem is dangerous or incompetent but have taken no action to report them.
The medical/nursing community can just be a scary place sometimes with how it places its own in front of safety.
I don't know of a podcast for this, but if anyone is looking for another good read about a provider with a pattern of unsafe medical care in Texas, check out this one:

In all this negative, Mr. Philip Mayfield, a victim of Duntsch's scalpel, shows the epitome of a higher conscious- unsolicited forgiveness:
"Today, if Philip could confront Duntsch, he would. 'I would tell him that I forgive him," he says. "Even though... he hasn't asked [me] for forgiveness, or said anything to any of the patients that were affected.' "
