Hi there I'm a nursing student and still thinking if withdrawal is safe. Because some of my friends told me that some get pregnant even if they use withdrawal method.
And is it true that you can have memory loss when using this kind of method?
Thank you for the replies..
im confused why anyone is saying withdrawl is safe, its not! you can get all the std's with withdrawl, many std's are spread by just contact not ejaculate. and there is no pregnancy protection with withdrawl, just a lucky chance. it is not safe.
i think some of those answers are because of how the op phrased the question:
and is it true that you can have memory loss when using this kind of method?
of course, the withdrawl method isn't a very effective means of preventing pregnancy/stds.
however, in terms of it causing "memory loss" or any other kind of physical ailment, it is safe. (as opposed to, say, birth control pills that can cause pes and strokes).
"safe" and "effective" are two different things.
Of course withdrawal is safe. We are lucky to live in an age when such sophisticated methods of contraception are available to us. When my dad was growing up, they didn't have all these fancy forms of birth control like, pulling out. I have also found, though not proven, that standing in front of the fluoroscopy machine in the OR without lead has worked well too.

IMHO...Anyone who doesn't wear lead in front of flouoroscopy is asking for what they get, or rather what they don't get.
Please consider using methods that are proven and effective in preventing pregnancy. One such resource to help you:

Also as others said, you need barriers or to use abstinence if you want to avoid STDs, period, unless you are sure of your partner's status.
Good luck.
If you are looking for an effective method that is "natural", you may consider fertility awareness. It is not a barrier method so it doesn't protect from STD's. It is more appropriate for couple in a long-standing relationship.Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health is a popular and informative book about it.
There are a lot of great pages on the internet about birth control options!
And by the way, my "withdrawal baby" is 5 years old. :uhoh21: :)
