Hi there I'm a nursing student and still thinking if withdrawal is safe. Because some of my friends told me that some get pregnant even if they use withdrawal method.

And is it true that you can have memory loss when using this kind of method? :uhoh3:

Thank you for the replies..

Withdrawal is perfectly safe, but can indeed be ineffective and still cause pregnancy.

There is no connection between this method of birth control and memory loss. Old wives tale.

I understand in the Philippines the Roman Catholic church opposes public funding for birth control as well as birth control in general.

Withdraw is safe to do but no guarentee that you will not get pregnant. There can be some sperm that get out during intercourse before ejaculation. I have a little one who is here because I was trying to watch my cycles and do the withdraw!!;)

Yeah, it definitely decreases the chance of pregnancy, but is one of the least reliable methods. I wouldn't trust it, no way!

The anatomy/physiology of it is enough to warrent a back up method, and not to mention that it does NOTHING to protect man or woman from sexually transmitted diseases. So I'll have to be the odd man out and say, no, it's not safe.

And, uh, it can be kinda hard to practice sometimes. If ya know what I mean. ;)

Yes, I agree that it is not safe if you are using it for protection from STDs.

I used that method, once. My son will be six next month. :uhoh21:

It's safe in the fact that there are no chemicals to harm you but definately the side effect would be pregnancy. If you are not opposed to getting pregnant then go for it. If not, and you don't like chemicals, at least use a condom. They fail too but not nearly so often. If you definately don't want to get pregnant you'll have to go with chemicals and a condom.

i read somewhere that out of 100 couples that used the withdrawal method 27 of them got pregnant. now this method does not protect against std's and there are several good reasons for this to fail.. you are depending on a man to pull out when it's that time....and most of them don't want to in the first place much less when the big bang comes. some just have no control....also pre-ejaculation contains spermies ...i wouldn't try it, but then i get pregnant every time my husband walks by me...i have had my goodies burned, tired, knotted, seared, clamped and i am still scared to do it.....

Withdrawal is safe, but it won't protect you from getting STD or getting pregnant. It is NOT a reliable birthcontrol method. I used withdrawal and my son will be 10 in September.

Let me put it a different way because I think I know what you are asking---NO, withdrawl is not safe, because it does not protect against pregnancy OR STD's!!

I have a child as well due to this method of birth control which is a misnomer because withdrawl does not control pregnancy at all. Kapish???

I agree . . it is NOT safe to use for birth control. As others have said, men leak liquid prior to ejaculation and that liquid has sperm in it.

Don't do it. :nono:

Im confused why anyone is saying withdrawl is safe, ITS NOT! You can get all the STD's with withdrawl, many STD's are spread by just contact not ejaculate. And there is no pregnancy protection with withdrawl, just a lucky chance. IT IS NOT SAFE.
