Does Joint Commission have any credibility left in 2022?

I love to get on Youtube and watch nurse stuff. Nurse Blake is one of my favorites. He somehow manages to be funny without being cynical (I am a total cynicist myself).
But this video points out the real failure JACHO has been in the last two years. It also makes me wonder if JACHO is more like hospitals paying for accreditation than actually attaining something. Kinda like how food manufacturers pay for the American Heart Association logo for their food products to try to sell them more, but it really isn’t the healthiest thing to eat…

Anyway here is a link to the video of Nurse Blake JACHO vs Water Bottles. At the very least you will have a good laugh! And just for fun I also sent an email to The Joint Commission letting them know how much they let us down with a link to this video as well. I hope they enjoyed it. Feel free to do so as well.?

I couldn't agree with Nurse Blake more about the water bottles, and most of us probably feel that TJC has been more of an unnecessary stressor than ever recently. I'm just not a huge fan of either one, personally. Sometimes Nurse Blake cracks me up; most of the time...I dunno, it kinda falls flat for me.

Does anyone know if he currently works as a nurse, or if he has during the pandemic? Or has he moved over to his other pursuits full-time? I know he's got his Youtube channel, his podcast, his shows and touring, and a children's book coming out soon.

Yes, he returned to the Orlando early shortly after the pandemic started and was working one of the adult units in the hospital I worked at during that time. Last heard he's still there.

we think a group from JC just lied their way into our facility. 3 people dressed in business casual (but no briefcases) told the door security they were here to see my department manager and photograph our department. No such arrangement had been made, but instead of calling up to verify, he let them in. They were here about 5 minutes looking at a map of the facility and left. My manager thinks it was them and we failed by letting them in. Has this happened to anyone else?

So, we're at the point where we aren't trusting anyone to come in...arming the doors with security guards. Back home, everyone gets checked in schools and malls as TSA does screening like in airports minus the fancy scanners.  Are you all ready for this?

Weird.

If TJC were legitimate in any way, they would have suited up with the rest of us for the pandemic. But they stayed at home...and the world did not end, the sky did not fall, and somehow we survived. The last 2 years have proven that they are totally unnecessary.

But now they have the gall to come at us about the tape holding up a child's drawing on the wall at the nurses' station...?

As a side note, a former manager once told me she thought I had a "bright future in somewhere like JCAHO." I've been called a lot of things over the years, but none so insulting. She hated me. ? And, no, I did not join the Dark Side.

Are they this bored?

Never had credibility.  Just a money-sucking sham for suits. Until they care about patient ratios they are totally irrelevant  . Trying desperately to make themselves relevant. Hilarious!

We have JC coming back to my facility to follow up because we aren't charting follow up pain assessments properly.  Really?

Well, they have report something since they're going to ignore staffing as it relates to patient safety and delivery of care.
