I made so much mistakes in the past as in grades. I been getting mostly "C"s in the prereqs and I looked through most colleges and it looks like I won't be qualifyed for anything. I currently go to CSUEB and for sure I know I won't make it in there. IS there any other options? I thought about being a Respiratory Therapist or something in Nuclear medicine.

If you want to be a nurse, I don't think you should take your sights off that because you've had a hiccup. If this is really what you want to do, you'll regret going another way later on. Do you know if any of your classes are old enough to retake? If your classes are still in progress, can you bust it enough until semesters end to get a B (beg for extra credit, perfect final?)How are your science prereq. grades? There are alternate routes, if after you've tried you still can't get in, you could become an LVN/PN do well there and step-up, or get a job at a facility that has an onsite step-up program.
Best of luck to you, but please if this is what you want, don't give up on it yet unless you will be completely happy with your decision. It's not always easy to go back and pursue a dream.

Negative.....DON'T retake any sciences unless you have to....I let my sciences expire and I have to retake them all....and guess what I will have 1/3 of my GPA taken off for retaking a science course, even though I passed them all in the past.....So it doesn't matter what you do....even if you passed your science classes and have to retake them, THEY STILL COUNT THEM AS A REPEAT AND TAKE POINTS OFF.....so there goes my dream of becoming a nurse for the time being.....My advise to you, is DON'T retake anything unless you are forced to because of a time lapse....and most nursing schools are doing this....There are a select few that don't do this....Good Luck

All of the JC in my area and state do not look at grades, just have to pass with Cs and have a GPA of 2.5. You would qualifty for this.

I'm assuming you meant CSUSB?
I go to school there and work there full time in the clinic. We were just doing a whole bunch of nursing physicals for future nursing students. Most of them averaged C's in their sciences but got A's and B's in all the english/psych etc. So you should have a chance. Plus the school just doubled the amount of students who can enter through a grant given by RCH. If you're willing to work at Riverside community hospital for 3 years, you can probably get into the program.

Nicole, why would you assume the OP meant CSUSB, when it was written as CSUEB? The California State University system has more than one school, and there is a CSUEB.

My wife is in similiar situation with C's for her all pre-req nursing&science classes (she was hurried and Mt. SAC told her min of C is ok) but now she is having hard time getting in at Rio Hondo as they say her GPA is too low, even though her general GPA is better with A's and B's.
She is thinking about LVN programs somewhere else, but may be based previous posts now, we should try CSUSB. Fortunately I work for CSU. The other challenge is that she is in early 40's and time is kind of running out.
Thank you for the good info.

I'm from Maryland it's competitive to get into nursing school. C's would be hard to get in but I would keep trying and not lose hope. When I went to nursing school, they were deseperate for students and took C students and they did just fine. Unfortanately, when it's competitive to get in, grades come into it. It really depends on who you are competing with when you apply. Good luck!

While true, you got to remember ever lottery there is 800 apps and around 30 spots.
I know this. I was just pointing out that not ALL hope is lost.
Aye, it is not. My friend aplies every semester to junior colleges and has gotten denied for a year now, but it is possible to get in.

The nevada area is a bit more lenient. Most schools out here will allow you to retake a science once and the higher grade is counted toward your gpa and the other is not used at all. Also, the community college out here does not require alot of sciences to start (you do them along the way) for their ADN program and you could actually get bonus points for the ones you have done already with a C (they enroll by point system, no lottery). I don't think all hope is lost. Just do your research and if you need to move to go to school then seriously think of doing so. You may consider LPN/LVN school as a start and then get into an LPN to RN bridge program. Keep your chin up. There is a way to do this, it just might be a long and difficult road.
