Does anyone know if their upcoming clinicals are going to be online?

With the delta variant getting bad and high chance of vaccine-resistant variants emerging, I am starting to wonder if nursing school clinicals will soon be remote again. I know it will be different for every program, but I cannot contact my future program because they are overwhelmed.

My (non-nursing science major) sister said her college is telling her to prepare for everything to go remote at any second. I'm wondering if anyone has heard similar things from their nursing programs.

I won't start my program until 2022 (not sure if fall or Spring), but I'm trying to get an idea of what it's going to be like so that I'm prepared.

I may be missing something here but how in the world would you do clinicals remotely or online?

So far, I haven't heard anything like this. Don't jinx me. I just hope I will continue to be on the floor. ?

As you've stated these programs are very overwhelmed currently and are watching the developments along with their partnering clinical sites. It's not worth attempting to contact them at this time as (1) often times these situations change in a matter of days - if not hours and (2) you're program still does not start for at least 4 or more months there is no way they can tell you what is going to happen that far in advance.

I understand the situation is stressful but try to relax and continue to prepare for your program as you have been. Also realize that you will need to be flexible enough as a student to adapt to anything that they may throw at you with minimal notice during the course of your program. Trust me -- that's what we all have been doing for going on 2 years now, at least we did have a short break to help recoup some of our senses :)

Remember - others before you have weathered this and so too shall you.. stress and all. One day at a time.

These days it may depend on the state you live and if you are vaccinated.

Some schools are doing V-sims for clinical hours. Virtual simulation. They are actually quite good and they give you great scenarios.

My school is doing clinicals in-person and everything else besides exams will be online! They do require us to be vaccinated, so maybe that is helping us a little. We did v-sims during the initial shutdown, but they are working really hard to keep us in person now!

the original reason nursing students were not doing in-hospital clinicals in 2020 was the lack of PPE supplies. I am hoping the amount of PPE supplies is now adequate to allow nursing students the clinical experiences they need.

I started school last august, transferred into an ABSN with all my prereqs done so it's been all NR classes. September (YES A YEAR LATER) I was set to start my in-person clinical however my school reported last week that too many teachers have quit due to the vax being mandatory so we have the clinical sites but not clinical teachers so we were notified that we will remain online till at least November now... My program has been 100% virtual now come September we will be going to campus one day a week just to take exams and quizzes

Unfortunately we will be going in person and meeting together in person for lecture I don’t feel good about it because of we get Covid we are basically out of the program. Last year one student got it and was told she couldn’t come back, but yet we are being thrown into situations where we might get it ? Than to add to the fire almost all students work in the medical field so are already exposed it’s just too much exposure too many meetings interactions oh and if you miss two days your out of the program ughhh

Who was the school hiring for nursing clinical instructors? I gotta add you are better off not learning from those who did not believe in the good of vaccinations. I wonder if this is the nursing educational school for anybody if 1) they were hiring adjunct faculty who did not believe in the science of vaccinations 2) They can't rally enough faculty to teach clinical from their roster of theory teachers....wondering if theory teachers are not current for clinical or trotting out some canned lectures.

And who is going to structure good clinical remote experiences?

 I don't want to come across as mean or dissing your educational plans. I wish you luck and hope the school can mobilize some clinical teachers. I know you want to be a nurse badly but....
