Help!
I'm working my butt off and doing great in my class; and we'll be done in June.
Graduation will mean the world to me, but we have to wear those awful white dresses with the silly paper nurse caps for graduation!! Throw in those white hose and ugly white shoes and I'm tempted to skip the ceremony.
They keep saying "it's tradition"... well, so is sexism and underpayment. The males only have to wear white pants & shirts.
Am I off base here? What does your school require for graduation attire??
Only if you think there is ... :)
There was a big brouhaha at school over the cap issue. We have to wear the all white for pinning but as for caps our directors were adament that we were not allowed to wear them. I didn't get the whole story.
Edited to add: Actually I didn't get any of the story. My brain is so clogged that I just do as they say and count the days until I can put RN behind my name. :)
I don't know about the rest of you but I would be proud to wear white dress and all. Our graduation is with the whole school and we are wearing the normal cap and gown. Now for pinning we are wearing our clinical getup, full uniform...gait belt and all, we can't even do our hair. It all has to be like we are going to clinicals, hair up and all.
Our pinning is just walking down the lane and getting pinned. I want more, I WORKED my tail off, and I believe my family deserves more also.

I sympathize! :) Best wishes for the remainder of school --
Just had mine today and during planning for it we all agreed in our white scrubs from clinicals. Then today half of the females showed up in different kinds of dresses. I kinda wished I had looked into it at first, then I saw someone kinda my weight wearing one and was glad to be in scrubs. That dress is not flattering for all. But ya it would have looked more professional had we all been in the same style dresses. You want to stand out from the audience and looks great during the plegde.
