I don't know if this is also a common trend anywhere else, but around here, I've seen SOOO many girls wearing scrubs as a "fashion statement." I've started chit-chatting with a few, starting out with something like "oh, are you a nurse? an aide? blah blah blah.." ......and they just stare at me, before they realize I'm referring to the scrubs. It irks me. Granted, I wear my scrubs casually sometimes, but damnit, I'm entitled to! lol. Anyone else feel my aggravation? :anbd:

I have a 2 year old daughter, and I always have to sneak in the door because I won't let her TOUCH me until I have the scrubs off, and she gets offended. After they're off, I stuff them in a plastic bag, toss them down the shoot and wash the hell out of my hands. My neighbor is a respiratory therapist, and one day she hugged her grandson before taking off her scrubs...couple days later, he's got a GIANT abscess on his face, and had to be treated for MRSA. Scary stuff.

Scrubs by choice...for fashion? Wow, I must be out of style. I only wear mine for work.

When my grandson lived with me he got use to "don't touch Grandma when she has scrubs on" - eventualy he it came to him naturaly not to try. My grandson would still great me with a big smile when I came home from work. At first it hurt my feelings more than his, now I don't even give it a second thought.

The CDC recommended that scrubs be dried in the dryer, as opposed to hanging on the clothesline to dry. Apparently, the heat kills MRSA and other organisms.

Interesting to know! I'm just worried about my scrubs shrinking :p I'm really tall.

hmm, and sunlight has been recommended for other "nasties"......but the dry heat might relate to the fact that most domestic hot water is no where near high enough to be effective.....the state i leave in the building code is to set the heater at no more than 112' F.....barely enough fo a p*ss warm bath, never mind disenfecting laundry

Im sooo with you, I strip from the doorway as I get home. Call me crazy but I have big white twist tie garbage bags in a decorative hamper by my front door that I put my scrubs in. Come laundry time; its hot water and oxiclean. :lol2:

I haven't started working as a CNA yet, but darn it, that is the best advice :yeah:Thanks for that great idea!

I have the same problem too- look for scrubs that are a poly blend- less shrinkage.
