Do power cords for IV pumps bother you?

Published

Just wondering if other people are annoyed with having to deal with the power cords for IV pumps. I think they are quite a nuisance. I was also wondering how other people deal with trying to keep pumps plugged in after patients use the bathroom, walk around, etc.

I just wish the designers of our hospital (building is five years old) had placed the outlets in a place that doesn't require me to bend and twist behind equipment to plug the cords in!

Larry David broached this same subject on his HBO movie. All these outlets should be at shoulder height. Who cares if we hide the outlets? We all know they are there.

Maybe you could invent something and patent the doo-hickey to make enough money so you can pick & choose to work!

Not the power cord. The impossible to get to power outlets (and not enough of them) are what bother me.

The cord for the EPC cuffs drive me nuts. On some of the older beds that didn't have the outlet on the bottom we would have to plug them into the wall. Tripping hazard!

They bug me. I feel like they are dirty and germ-infested. Do you think those power cords get cleaned really well in between patients? I mean, really well? What about retractible cords? That would be cool.

Come to think of it, I always hated vacuuming as a child, but not because of the actual vacuuming. It was something about having to unwrap and then rewrap the darn cord that just made me insane.

First World problems.

Great way to bring a harmless thread to a screeching halt!

I hate that First World problems thing. Of course complaining about IV pump cords is ridiculous and petty! Of course a starving child in a Third World Country would be absolutely horrified that this is what we complain about here! No one is suggesting that this is a life or death problem. It's just a stupid little annoyance that we can gripe about on a website for entertainment.
