Do your nursing instructors give back your tests...

Published

Just a quick poll. Do your nursing instructors give back your tests and if not do they at least allow you to see your test after so that you can see where you are weak? In my current nursing class you are not allowed to keep or view the entire test but rather you are allowed to see a "rationale" for each question. However some of the time we are only allowed to see a "rationale" without the question and in one of my other classes we are not allowed to see anything except how many we got right or wrong. Just curious!

we can go over them in a large group after the test but it is just us holding our tests (not our scantrons) and an instructor reading the correct answer. If we want rationales/review we have to make a special appointment. But we can NOT take notes on tests and we never see them again. The scantrons do go in our folders in the department somewhere but we don't see them again.

Some of our teachers do and some don't. Lately more of them have NOT been reviewing them, which I think sucks. The purpose of testing is not just for the instructors to know how much we are learning, but for US too... sort of basic knowledge in education circles but I don't think most of them really have an actual background in education (at least in my program they don't). It really annoys me when I can't know what I'm getting wrong so I can improve.

None of my professors, either in my first graduate program or my second, ever gave my exams back. Most went over the answers. We were able to remember the questions :)

We saw our tests at our next lecture meeting. Anyone who had not yet taken it had to leave the room. We then hand them back after we go over each question.

But....we are allowed at any time to schedule a meeting with our lecture instructor and review our tests. We can even take notes, etc., just not bring the actual exam anywhere. I think that is fair. After all, it is OUR work, and we should be able to review it and learn from our mistakes, and learn from our successes. I'm not paying $20k a year to not see the results of my hard work! LOL

We get back all written coursework with a feedback sheet from the examiner. We are not allowed to see our test papers, or to know how many questions we got wrong or right.

We are allowed to look at our test & our instructor goes over each question. The tests are put in our files & we can go in with an app. & look at them any time we want.We also discuss in detail anything we are not clear on. Our instructor will not give back tests but never reuses the questions. We also do not get any old questions on our finals.

They are handed back to go over the correct answers but must be given right back and become the teachers property. If you do not hand it back you will automatically get a big fat zero for an overall grade :stone

This is done to prevent students from making copies and "sharing" them with other students. This is done even though the instructors make up different tests each semester, go figure!
