Yes, and it's unfortunate. However, being a target myself, at one time, has made me stronger, so it just comes with the territory.

No. "Nurses" do not eat their young.

Some nurses were jerks before they became nurses.

Nurses are not a monolith.

And the complaint that it is always older nurses who "eat" the newer nurses . . doesn't pan out when you read complaints.

So, no . . that stereotype is wrong and frustrating.

Here ya go . . . .a long long thread about it.

Ignoring for a moment that your study leaves out LPNs, the cover letter with it's assumption of a nursing shortage is likely to be off-putting to many people despite the fact that the AACN is still insistent that we're still in "crisis" from the nursing shortage.

I'll agree they're jerks alright.

Also, I had a couple or so older nurses try to eat me up a few times.

There were also some nurses very supportive and nice.

They're more tender when they're young.

My impression is that sometimes an experienced nurse feels the need to establish a pecking order by beating up on newly licensed nurses. IMHO

That experienced nurse would most likely do the same thing if she was an experienced engineer and a new and younger engineer started working with her.

Again - this has more to do with what kind of PERSON you are/were. Not that you became a nurse.
