Do I have a right to be upset with my instructors?

Don't waste your time being upset. Follow up!

I prefer Face-to-Face contact for requests like this. Let them know you are serious; approach them personally and request an appointment. Don't depend on email to do the talking for you. Learn this now, as when you graduate and apply for work, you will learn rapidly that email and websites are NOT where it's at when you want a certain position. You will likely need to follow up with a phone call or visit to Human Resources and various managers to get the job you want, anyhow.

Face to face (or at least a phone call) will net you more . Good luck and I wish you well!

As far as the original question..should you be mad...heck, my first instinct is "wow, you need permission to have emotions?". Yes, you CAN be mad or frustrated, you are HUMAN! BUT...don't let that anger hinder strides to get to the bottom line.

You WILL have emotions...all of them...because we became nurses can't take that away...although there are some that would hide behind the title to excuse it because it hurts or seems wrong..we have emotions...and they have their rightful place in our own individual dynamic lives...just like our patients...the trick is to embrace them, understand why...and find out if that particular emotion is going to hinder or help....something universal we all as people have to find on our own despite career .

Find the answers...there are multiple ways..find your goals..they will strengthen you...find your reasons..they are what guides you..and trust your heart...that will always be what makes you the best you can be (well, learning how MUCH to listen or react to it..LOL! That is a true art!~)....

I'm concerned about my grade after bombing a test last Thursday. I emailed my instructors that afternoon (on Thurs) asking if any of them will be available anytime this week for a 1:1 meeting with one of them Re: my grade. Spring break started Thursday after class, but as far as I know, the instructors were going to be around on friday.

No response yet, so i figured that maybe none of them checked their email yet.

just a few minutes ago I went to my college website to look at the calendar, and one of my instructors posted some "announcements" yesterday. In order for her to be able to do that, she has to sign in with her email.

Is it asking too much to get a response?? Even a "No, I'm sorry, I won't be able to sit down with you this week. How about when class resumes?" type-a response.

I would like to address this to her, if you guys think there is a need to do so. This particular instructor is a meany from hell who definetely has her fav's - and I'm not one of them, but that's besides the point. Lets be a little professional, you know.

I'd try again then drop it. Instructors can make your life a living hell. On the last two days of my first semester (basically a party food drink everywhere) we had to do a head to toe - pass the assessment pass the class. I went in to do mine with another student and told her to go a head and do her assessment on me first. My instructor corrected me and made me do mine first. We went to switch places when my instructor dismissed me from the room as I left I over heard her telling the other student she had failed. I agreed, knowing the student, with the instructor's decision. What upset me was that this wasn't something brand new. Basically she humiliated my fellow student by making her come all the way to school the last day and then failed her - it was just rotten to the core! I have other equally nasty if you'd care to hear. So, I say drop it like said don't get worked up over the little things.

More than likely she receives a ton of emails each day. It sounds like the school is now on spring break, and has been since last Thursday. Most people attempt to get back via email within 24 business hours. If the school is on Spring Break, she, like you, is now on her "own time". Maybe she went on vacation, and wanted to post an quick announcement before she left. You just don't know the circumstances.

I agree with the others--a phone call or visit to her office is in order when school is back in session.

Cut her some slack.....it is her spring break too.....IMO I would confront if I did not hear anything back after spring break is over......

I agree with PennyLane and Beanurse - perhaps you are overreacting. I know my husband doesn't deal with work related emails when on break ( he teaches) - that is the whole idea - BREAK. So don't worry just followup when school resumes - I imagine you will get a response on the Monday when school starts - if not - check with him/her.
