I only work out 3 days per week usually M/W/F but if I have something planned those days I will fill in other days. I only work 8 hours day though so that makes a big difference. I don't know that it is good for you to work out on the days you work 13 hour shifts though because your body is already tired and may not get the full benefit you would if you did your workout on your days off.
I was just wondering if anyone exercises on the days they work. I work thirteen hour shifts (3 days a week) and am aching and exhausted when I come home (and hungry!). However, I am doing exercise tapes which I think I would benefit me more if I do them daily. Was wondering what other nurses did..thanks! t.
I exercise even after a long, hard workdays; however, I listen to my body by tailoring my workout. For instance, when my feet were tired walking all day at work, I do upper body excercise and save lower body training on my day off. When I am really tired and feel sick. I sleep very early and do short workout the next day before going to work.
The point is you have to listen to your body by not abusing it,but you also have to be able to force yourself when you are just feeling lazy.
thanks for replies..I am thinking, how some pple take sat and sunday off from working out? Maybe my days working will be my days off for working out :)..although it might be better to just do twenty minutes versus vegging in front of the tv...i guess it depends how you feel...t.
It's great to have that commitment. I usually get home between 7:30 and 8pm. I'll cook suppper, make the next's days lunch if I'm working, spend a quiet meal with the spouse, or if I'm alone on the computer, walk the dogs and then it's time for bed.
I agree though 20 minutes is better than nothing and using your body as a guide. My body tells me after all of the above, to chill in bed with a book and crash. Then again, I'm an old man.
Oh, man...I was in such great shape before nursing school, running a full marathon the summer before. Last month I finished orientation and started working nights. Not only do I not exercise on my work days, I can barely pull myself off the couch on my days off. I miss working out, and know I would feel better if I got moving. Every day I think it will be the day I get up and get out, but I never find the motivation. I'm 30 lbs over my weight before school, and can't stand myself these days. My YMCA membership gets paid every month too. I have no excuses...
