Hello, I was just wondering if anyone enjoys Nursing School? I don't find it to be sooo bad like everyone described. Then again, I'm only in N102, the easy stuff, I guess. I enjoy going to school, most of my peers and many of my instructors, and clinical. Is there anyone else? Sure studying around the clock can get a little old and I just want to snap my fingers and voila I'm an experienced, competent, licensed RN. HAHA What are your experiences? Do you like it or hate it? What is or was the best and worst parts?
they split our Fundamentals 1 and 2 into 2 half semesters the first semester - so I finished up Nursing 111 with a B - but it was bo-ring! I felt it was fluff - how to communicate theraputically - really? Clinical was an eye opening learning experience but as our skills broaden we are actually getting to do more "stuff"... Nursing 112 started last Friday and we are getting into Acid/Base balance and Fluids and electrolytes, hanging IV bags and the med calc test is the first week of November - and if we pass with a 90% we can start passing meds!
I'm in first semester BScN, and I LOVE it! Everybody was telling me horror stories about how hard it is to keep up on course work, how hard anatomy is and that so many people fail, and so on and so forth.
I wish I hadn't listened, I scared myself for no reason. It's tough, and time consuming with two children to care for, but if I am on top of things and have good time management skills, I am managing!
Loving Nursing!!!!
I love nursing school. It is the hardest thing I have ever done but also makes me feel the smartest. I never knew that I was smart enough to retain this much information or be such a critical thinker. My ride has been rough as I am in an accelerated program, but putting in the effort and making it through a program has been awesome! I can honestly say that putting in the effort (and in my case that means 5 hours of studying a day-) the results will come and its just a serious high
I go to school 8 hours a day, so I get tired, but with that being said, I still love it. There are a few class mates I could do without. I start clinicals in Jan. and I cant wait to take all this information that I have learned and see how it is put to use. Over all I say that I LOVE IT. I think when a person really wants something, they dont look at the bad as being bad they look at it for what it is( learning) and go on with the task at hand.
It' a bit of both, really. I have to admit that I had a bit of an ego coming into my program (lots of medical background and knowledge vs. some of my fresh out of high school classmates). That got torn down quickly. I came home crying on more than one occasion, thinking I should just quit. Then, I remembered all the reasons that I want to be a nurse, and got up for another round. I graduate from my LVN program in 7 weeks and though there are still rough patches, I notice everyday how the program has changed me for the better.
