I got my CNA certification at 18 and started working as a CNA in an ICU/ Step-down unit soon after. I am currently in my 3rd of 4 semesters for my nursing school. I graduate this may at the age of 21. The experience you gain as a CNA really helps with nursing.

I'm in my third semester of 4 and I love it. The first two semesters were pretty dull IMO, but now that I take care of at least two patients every clinical and can do all of my skills, I have a lot of fun.

Going to a CC. Had a 4.0 before entering the program, now halfway through with a 3.75:)

Well right now I actually do work in an ICU as well as a stepdown unit (one "unit" on two floors, we generally go to whichever we're needed at) and I abosolutely LOVE being here. So I'd have to say- 1. ICU 2. ER 3. Burn unit Least- 1. Pediatrics (Floated over once and I was mortified) 2. L&D 3. LTC

I would think it depends on the policy of the facility. Where I work, you have 24 hours.

My advice for taking patho- know how the inflammation process works frontwards and backwards. Chains in the inflammatory process are key to most other diseases. Also, i'd say pharm was harder just because it involved memorization. For me, patho was just following a story line, and you could usually predict any part part in a disease process based on what you knew about inflammation. It's not true in every case though.

I'm 20 years old and I'm finishing up my first of two years. I currently work in an ICU/Step-down unit as a CNA/US, and all I ever hear is, " You look like you're just out of middle school, you can't know very much!". I don't have any problems in class though even as the second youngest. If anything the only thing I ever get is "Oh well David and Heather can't come drink with us" for end of semester parties. You'll be fine! If anyone gives you garbage for your age, just remind yourself that you're doing what it took them possibly 15 years to do. It does get a little frustrating with people thinking that you're too young to know anything though. It'll pass though =) Good luck!!
