I just recent graduated from excelsior with my associates. The program is ridiculous and was a nightmare, but it's finally over with. My question is if in the future I want to go back for my bachelors, will any colleges accept the excelsior degree? I have no desire to give excelsior any more of my money. I know in the past I looked at just transferring the credits I had mid way thru and finishing the associates at a regular college, but come to find out the nursing credits don't really transfer. One of the many reasons excelsior is a rip off. Have any associates grads tried to go to a traditional associates to bachelors bridge program? Ive tried to google it but can't seem to find much info. Any ideas?

Are you speaking of transferring an ADN from excelsior into an RN to BSN program? Probably everyone will take it, as excelsior has regional accreditation. I know WGU will for sure, although you'd have to retake/test out of A/P/Micro if you didn't do them with a lab.

You don't need the nursing portion to transfer. You get credit for your RN license. You might have to take a few more general credits based on the schools requirements and usually sciences might need to be redone especially if you took them at excelsior since they have no lab portion. Other then that you should be good to apply at any other school for bsn. I did mine at Wgu but I know a lot of people have done many other schools including state universities with no problem with their excelsior degree.

Excelsior is a NLN center of nursing education excellence and fully accredited. Yes it's accepted for the entry to practice portion required for an RN to BSN program.
Ok thanks guys! I'm very relieved. I can understand having to take anatomy with the lab and stuff like that. I was so worried if I went back later I would basically be forced to go thru excelsior. The whole issue with excelsior is the cpne. They make it so ridiculously hard that the majority of the students can't pass it. Or they at least have the take it more than once. Its just a scam for money. The actual exams weren't that bad. This associates degree ended up costing way more than I originally thought it would. Plus I hate dealing with the actual school. About every 2 months I have issues with my school loan company. I send in my in school deferment every single semester and they send it to navient. Then magically a month or so later I suddenly have huge payments due because navient says I'm not in school. Then I have to get the school to fix things with navient. Then a month later it's the same all over again! And it's happening more than once during each semester! It makes no sense at all. Just seems like the school is very unorganized and very slow to get anything done. So glad it's over!
I am in the process of applying for the nclex in my state (TN)..but it looks like once I send everything in, the board of nursing has to confirm with excelsior that I completed the requirements and graduated. Considering how slow they have been and how many issues I've had with them, I'm really hoping they don't take forever to do their part. I'm basically at a stand still until they do their part and I finally get my authorization to test. So frustrating. I Swear with that school it seems like I'm always waiting on something from them! The good news is I did send in my info on that class action lawsuit against excelsior over the cpne. Luckily I took the cpne 2 times during that window to be eligible to get some money. Passed on my 3rd time. First cpne I was unfairly failed due to a mistake by the CE and appealed and the school did actually let me retest without paying the fee. O was really surprised but they were definitely wrong. Glad they agreed. The 2nd time I failed bc of very stupid mistakes on my part. I'll onky get money for 1 test since once the few was waived. But hey I'll take my 200 bucks haha. That school took me twice as long as it would have to just bite the bullet and go to a regular school. I wish I had known what a pain it would all be. I tell everyone to avoid that school. Luckily I did my research and didn't waste money on the college network scam!
Sorry you had such a bad experience with Excelsior! I graduated many years ago and had no such issues - they were relatively inexpensive and very quick. I can say without a doubt I probably would not be an RN now without them as I hated the idea of going back to a traditional school. :) Know that it's almost impossible to transfer nursing classes out of ANY ADN program - that's not a problem exclusive to excelsior.
When you have your RN at least you can be sure that you should have no problems getting into an RN-BSN program. :) :)

Lexilou08, I have had the SAME THING happen with Navient and Sallie Mae. It is so irritating to constantly have toi get Excelsior to fix this, and sometimes, it's not good enough for the loan company and they want more information. I will be glad when that is over!

I know this post is like 3 years old, but I am surprised to read so many people with bad experiences with Excelsior. I had a great experience. My CPNE was stressful most certainly, it was a difficult test. No test should be "designed" to pass or fail. I prepped and worked hard and passed. I graduated in 2009
Pacific Union in Napa area is supposed to take Excelsior courses. Contact (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). That is, f you want to move. I moved back to Cali and had to drop Excelsior, even though I took all classes minus the CPNE. I wish California took grads cuz I would go back and due the CPNE.
