Each student got 200 bucks for each time you took the CPNE and failed. 200 isn't much compared to the 2000 it cost to take the test, but it's better than nothing! And I'm glad the school finally admitted they were wrong and deceiving students by making the test almost impossible to pass. I did finally pass it this past year. But it sure wasn't easy!

Not sure how many people here signed up for the class action lawsuit against excelsior CPNE, but if you did you will be receiving a settlement check any day now. I submitted my info back in July and was wondering about it last week, today got a check in the mail finally!

im looking for some brightly colored long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve shirts i can wear under scrubs. they have to be solid colors, no designs or stripes. dont want a v neck shirt. just a regular fitted long sleeve tee. and also not too expensive. any recommendations?

trust me each brand has a slightly different color! ive had this same issue..found a top i liked but the bottoms i hated, but found other brand bottoms i liked. the difference in color was easy to see. i was told to get pewter or steel color, depending on the brand. at work i see every nurse wearing everything from a light gray all the way to dark charcoal and even some like almost look navy blue. but everyones tags say pewter or steel. pretty crappy we cant mix brands

I had a previous dui in 2011, just got my ATT for nclex and scheduled the test. I sent all the required paperwork/letter, etc about the dui. My question is how the process works. I've read that I can pass my nclex, but not be licensed until they review everything. Has anyone gone thru this in Tn? The posts I've read are about other states, and I know each BON does things a little differently. I know I will be able to get my license, I'm not worried about that part. I'm just concerned about there being a delay after the nclex. I've already started my RN job and in orientation. They are depending on me getting my license, and I'm worried if there is a delay after I pass I may lose the job. Has anyone been thru this and can give me any advice?

Hey Carrie not sure if you still get on here, but I am in TN and just scheduled my nclex. Previous dui in 2011. I sent all the required paperwork to the board. Just wondering if after you passed the nclex they had to review everything? Or if you just just got you license? I'm already working and finishing RN orientation and they are depending on me passing and getting my license. I'm just worried they will delay the process and have to review.

STarting a new job on a cardiac floor. I will be taking the basic, intermediate, and advanced ekg class my hospitals requires, but I would love to find a good website or app for my iPad to start learning now. Something that teaches, then quizzes me on the rhythms would be great. Any recommendations? Free would be ideal or something pretty cheap

I'm not sure where all these people live, but the pay in Tennessee sure isn't that much! New grads make around 18 an he. The pay is the same for associates or bachelors. I just graduated and was hired at 20.83 an hr, but they are counting my years of experience as an Lpn. For night shift u can obviously make several dollars more an hr, but I'm not a fan or working nights. If you live near a VA hospital they pay a little more. Plus the benefits at a government position helps. But the pay varies greatly depending on where you live. Also depends on the job. I'm talking about hospital jobs. Home health pays much more, but there are reasons why it pays so much more. As an Lpn I made more than most rns I know, but the driving and nasty houses were tough. After 2 years I had enough and was ready to go back to acute care

I did Sheri Taylor's online cpne workshop. Totally worth it's! I didn't have the money to travel for the workshop but I found that the online version was amazing. It wa just someone holding a camera filming the in person workshop. I could just as easily listen and take notes from the comfort of my home as sitting there and doing it. A lot of people do her in person workshop and online together. Not sure how much it is in person, but the online videos are under 150. Can't remember he exact price. But the 150 gives u unlimited access to all the videos for 30 days. For another 30 days of course is another 150. I only had to pay it once and studied about 3 weeks and passed the cpne with flying colors. I couldn't have done it without Those videos. She gives u a ton of practice care plans and you send them to her and she will grade them and tell you what you need to change. I felt pretty strong as far as the hands on nursing skills already, so I benefited from just the online. Depending on your medical background, the in person workshop would be good too. But once I memorized her mnemonics and it finally all clicked about how simple care plans were, I went into the cpne very confident. I actually did not pass the cpne when I took it before. But this was my own fault. I skimmed over the study guide and thought it was just testing my hands on nursing skills. Wrong. This test is a game. It's all about playing their game and memorizing how they want you to do everything. If I had done the online workshop the first time I would have easily passed! Unfortunately I learned that lesson the hard way. I don't know much about robs cpne but I know a lot of students use that as well and have been successful. Either way good luck and you can do it!!

I was struggling with care plans for a while. I was way overthinking them and making them much more complicated. I found Sheri Taylor's online cpne and it was totally worth the money. I think it was like 137 bucks for unlimited access for 30 days, or something like that. Anyway her videos on care plans were amazing. Finally it just all clicked. The care plans are actually very simple. They key is keeping them simple and basic. She gives u a bunch of practice care plans and grades them and her feedback was a huge help. After 2 or 3 I figured it out and realized they aren't hard at all. In fact at my cpne I got lucky and ended up using pretty much the exact care plans for all the patients. I know it won't always work out that way, but in general there's like 10 basic ones. I flagged those in my care plan book and didn't even look at any others. I highly recommend trying her online cpne. I seriously never would have passed without it. She's amazing at care plans!

I would not have passed without it! i did use studyguide101 but I found that some classes they made much more complicated and it had a lot of extra stuff in there that I didn't need to know. All I wanted to know was exactly the content that was on the test. i will say that for micro there is a workbook that you can get along with the text book. Well mine was serveral all years old, but I'm assuming the current required textbook has the workbook as well. If not, look at the older editions and find that workbook! The older editions are the exact same information, just sometimes in a different order. Once I found that workbook I didn't even open the text book or use studyguide101. The workbook gave a chapter summary and quizzes for each chapter. The text book was so long and complicated, and the workbooks were much simpler and right to the point. There may be something similar to that with A&P or some of the other courses. They aren't required but I would Google each book and see if they are an extra things like workbooks or CDs u can get. The other thing is the excelsior practice tests. It's a pain to pay extra but I promise they are 100% worth it! A ton of the questions on those will be on the actual exam. Keep in mind the practice tests are much harder than the actual test. Most people score pretty low on the practice test, but once they take the exam they do well. An example is my micro wher I got a 48 one on practice and a 52 on another, the next day I took the exam and I got an A! I sure wasn't expecting that! Go over the practice test answers and rationales. i found that the final exam for each class was much much easier than the practice tests. I was usually surprised how simple and basic the questions were. Those practice tests had me convinced I would fail every time lol. But after reading all the rationales it sure helped when the questions came up on the exam! if you have worked in the medical field you will find that a lot of the classes have a lot of common sense questions. I'm not saying they were super easy necessarily. But if you have been an Lpn for a few years you will find that you already know ALOT more than you realize good luck with everything and let me know if you need any help with anything! I actually just replied to someone else about micro. There's a workbook you can get along with the text book. The one I had was several editions older, but I'm assuming the current required textbook has the workbook. If not, find it in the older edition. The information has not changed, just the layout and sometimes the chapter number was different in my older book. I only used the workbook. It had summaries of each chapter, followed by quizzes. I followed along with the excelsior study guide and did every quiz. I also did the excelsior practice tests. Don't freak when you do horrible on the 2 practice tests. I got a 48 and 52 I believe. The actual exam is much much easier. The practice tests were difficult but the real exam all the questions are basic and simplified. I got an A on the exam. Sure didn't expect that since I bombed the practice tests. Remember that a good portion of the questions on they practice tests show up on the exam. They are worded simpler on the final exam, but I recognized quite a few and was soo glad I paid for the practice test. Make sure you go over the answers for the tests and the rationales really helped me. I also used studyguide101.com for micro I felt like they had way too much info that I didn't need to know and it was way more complicated that necessary. That website was great with some of the other classes, but I ended up not using the micro one at all. I promise if you can find that workbook that goes with the textbook, you will pass that test! The textbook had very long and detailed chapters. The workbook simplified everything down and told you exactly what you needed to know. Good luck when you take the exam! You will do fine. I promise it is much much easier than you expect it to be!

Out of all the classes I was the most stressed about microbiology. I felt like the nursing classes and even anatomy and gerontology weren't too horrible because I have been an Lpn for 7 years. I still had to study for each but I was already familiar with a lot of the terms, etc. Micro was different. I felt like I was going to have to teach myself a class from the beginning and wouldn't be able to "wing it" based on nursing knowledge. I used study guide 101. The problem was their study guide had soooo much information so I actually ended up just glancing at it here and there. What helped me was the workbook that came with the micro book. Now I had an older edition book since I planned on taking the exam a few years earlier. But ended up pushing it back and it was the very last exam I took, even after the cpne. I didn't even use the textbook. I used that workbook and for each chapter it basically had summaries, followed by quizzes. Sometimes the chapter was a different number from the excelsior study guide, but for he most at part it was all the exact same, just an older book. I HIGHLY recommend finding that workbook. I don't know if they have it for the newest edition book, if not then find one for the older edition. The chapters are the same from edition to edition, just sometimes in a different order. But the information is all the same. Also take the 2 excelsior practice tests. A good portion of their questions are on the test! Also don't panic when you do absolutely horrible on excelsiors practice tests. I got a 48 on one and a 56 on the other. The actually exam itself was MUCH easier. The questions were simplified and basic. I got an A on the actual exam. I couldn't believe it. I was so stressed and felt like the class was so hard just because it was sooo much to learn and memorize. I promise it's not nearly sa bad a you think it will be! Let me know if you have any trouble finding that workbook. It saved me a ton of time since it condensed each chapter and just told me exactly what I needed to know. The practice questions in each chapter in that workbook were a huge help. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

I didn't take the workshop offered through excelsior. I didn't attend a workshop in person at all in fact. I only used Sheri Taylor's online workshop. It was a lifesaver and I would not have passed the cpne without it. Honestly after watching all of her videos I didn't see any reason to attend in person. I guess if you really need to practice the lab stations it would be good to do it hands on. But I didn't see any reason to pay and travel to a workshop. Her videos are just someone filming one of her workshops. I thought hmm, I can listen and take notes at home in my pajamas, or pay all the money to do the same thing in person. I know everyone studies differently and a lot of students really enjoyed any of the in person workshops. The good thing about Sheri Taylor's is that is was more than just watching a bunch of videos online. She gives you a ton of practice care plans to write and actually grades them and tells you what you need to change. Once I learned the mnemonics, and did a bunch of her care plans, I went into that cpne confident. I guess the workshops would be good if you have not had much experience actually assessing patients. So it just depends on your background. I worked as an Lpn for 7 years. Primarily in hospitals. So the hands on part I felt pretty comfortable with. Just had a few things I had to review. But I HIGHLY recommend using Sheri Taylor's online workshop in addition to the one you are going to!

I am in the process of applying for the nclex in my state (TN)..but it looks like once I send everything in, the board of nursing has to confirm with excelsior that I completed the requirements and graduated. Considering how slow they have been and how many issues I've had with them, I'm really hoping they don't take forever to do their part. I'm basically at a stand still until they do their part and I finally get my authorization to test. So frustrating. I Swear with that school it seems like I'm always waiting on something from them! The good news is I did send in my info on that class action lawsuit against excelsior over the cpne. Luckily I took the cpne 2 times during that window to be eligible to get some money. Passed on my 3rd time. First cpne I was unfairly failed due to a mistake by the CE and appealed and the school did actually let me retest without paying the fee. O was really surprised but they were definitely wrong. Glad they agreed. The 2nd time I failed bc of very stupid mistakes on my part. I'll onky get money for 1 test since once the few was waived. But hey I'll take my 200 bucks haha. That school took me twice as long as it would have to just bite the bullet and go to a regular school. I wish I had known what a pain it would all be. I tell everyone to avoid that school. Luckily I did my research and didn't waste money on the college network scam!
