Do you belong to a professional nursing organization?

Probably won't be of any benefit to you, but I am a member of the Royal College Of Nursing, arguably the largest nursing organization and combined union in the UK.

It has many benefits but the largest selling point is the comprehensive indemnity insurance cover.

For all of us who subscribe to the 'underwear school of medical provision': Keep your ass covered!

I did belong to several. Can't afford it anymore. No money.

No point in talking about things without DOING something about them.

PS: I just realized I bet they don't even MISS me! :) j/k I talk enough for two people when I am on a campaign or on a rant.

1. ICANN Inland Counties Association Neonatal Nurses

2. ANN The Academy of Neonatal Nursing

They are great I want to join nann but it is so expensive You can go online and find dozens and dozens of nursing organizations.:chuckle

I am a member of the SC AOHN and the national AAOHN... (American Association of Occupational Health Nurses)... Among the benefits... great educational opportunities, networking at the conferences, the website offers a forum similar to this one, and registered members can search the database of members (again, great for networking), newsletters as well as a professional journal of research.... etc, etc, ad nauseum

I belong to the ENA (Emergency Nurses Association). Some of the benefits include: advanced education, practice education, govermental affairs, injury prevention, management, wellness, research, and educational scholarshipsl.

I spoke to three nurses, an NP; a physician's nurse and a manager, at the clinic where I work about this subject. The one thing that all three mentioned was networking; but not networking, for their benefit, as I have always considered. They spoke of networking in being able to provide better care for our patients by. Just found that interesting. Thanks for ya'lls responses.

2. networking with colleagues.

3. protecting my right to practice nursing and alerting me to threats against my right to practice e.g. legislation introduced.

4. attendance at ceu sessions stimulates my brain cells, gives me a time away from work to decompress, recharge the batteries and to see that others are in the same boat (or maybe worse) work situations.
