Shortly after a mama gave birth, "You behaved exactly how I wanted"

While giving an epidural, "Epidurals are actually better for baby"

Care to add to the list?

Shortly after a mama gave birth, "You behaved exactly how I wanted"

Ohhhh. Glad that wasn't said to me I would have said something terrible to the dr.

I am also the one who kicked a rude mean nurse off my case.

I've had a doctor hold a pair of scissors to the patients perineum saying "you better push or I'm going to cut." That same doc also wouldn't use lidocaine once during a repair because the patient wouldn't get an epidural. Same doc who I've seen use forceps with both of his feet on the bed for leverage.

I've also had another doc tell me to "Pit the crap out of her" until she agrees to get an epidural. :/

Oh the list goes on and on...and I'm still just a labor nurse. These are just a few of the many reasons I applied to CNM school.

Oh goodness. I started a thread like this in a VBAC support group I'm in. Here are some

After a lady partsl exam "Of course I could be lying and you'd never know, what are you going to do? Go home and check your self?"

I went home and learned how to check myself.

*Also, "You don't want an ecv. They hurt. Just have a cesarean"

*"Delayed cord clamping doesn't have any proven benefits"

*one of my favorites: My first pregnancy I asked about delayed cord clamping and the OB said it would kill the baby to make all the extra blood go into the baby. She said if I put your baby on the floor and let all the blood run into her she would explode from too much blood.

*After my water broke and after laboring for a few hours, my doctor was checking me and she was lingering for quite a while and it hurt! I asked her what she was doing and she said that she was curious so she trying to reach up and figure out how much hair my baby had on its head.

*I had an OB tell me birthing on your back is the ONLY natural way to birth a baby

*As a doula, I had a doctor call my handphone and ask the couple to agree to a lady partsl exam. I asked why thinking the nurse had noticed something on the monitor perhaps. He wanted to know if he had enough time to go see a movie. Sheesh.

*"First time moms aren't strong enough to push a baby out without an epidural." I was in transition. Fully dilated. I agreed to the epidural and it stopped my labour.

*"The baby doesn't belong to you while you're pregnant, it belongs to the government until you give birth."

*" I can just call cps on you and have them take your kids and still do the c-section but I won't because I like your family."

*The first OB I ever visited was doing a lady partsl exam and had his hand inside me and his nurse opened the door wide open and they carried on a conversation for a good minute before I'm like "hey? You're a little busy with your hand INSIDE me. Can this wait?" He was like "don't be sassy with me, I'll be sassy right back". I never saw him again!

*had the nicu dr tell me (as I was showing my husband how to swaddle) "I don't know why you are telling him that, it's not like you are going to be doing it at home anyway because it's not good for her" (they swaddled her in the nicu) and I asked her why it was ok for the hospital to do and not us at home.. she didn't have an answer so I turned my back on her and continued my lesson...

*'When do u want to schedule your csection?'

'I'm not scheduling one'

'We'll be prepared for your body to fail again'

*"Gravity doesn't help bring the baby down during labor." - My OB. Last time I ever saw her. Switched to a midwife after that.

*That VBAC's at my hometown hospital were for a certain group of religious women because they had so many children...but not for me.

*"Induction doesn't lead to more cesareans. It simply brings about what was going to happen anyway, sooner" – My unnecessary early induction led to a cesarean and I've had 2 drug-free spontaneous, complication-free VBACs since!

*"The baby doesn't belong to you while you're pregnant, it belongs to the government until you give birth."

(I'd just like to point out that a really surprising (to me) number of people do seem to feel this way, and that the government should be able to tell women what choices they can and can't make about a pregnancy ...)

Was that doctor male or female? I will guess a male.

Aspiring, I am so disappointed to read these! So, so sad! I wonder why some of these people get into obstetrics/ gynecologics if they have absolutely no regard for women and the sanctity of birth.

These quotes make me not want to be a labor and delivery nurse.
