Direct Entry MSN CSUF

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hello all,

Has anybody heard any news about the new direct-entry MSN program at CSUF? I went to the campus today and picked up an application and while I was there asked asked about the overall interest in the program. I was told it seems like its going to be a very competative group of people. Anyone here applying? We can all go through this together :monkeydance:

Given the competition for the EL-MSN program, I'm actually surprised I was accepted (I had a 3.67 GPA on my previous 60 undergrad units). With over 350 applicants, I figured those accepted would be in the 3.7 - 4.0 range. I wonder how much they weighted other factors like interview, letter of intent, ect.

Come to think of it, I don't think I factored my GPA without adding the two classes I'm taking... my bf did it for me, I think he said depending on HOW they actually grade it, I either had a 3.6 or a 3.75, but that is contingent upon me getting an A in both Micro and Physio, So without those 9 semester units, I would say maybe a 3.5? I will say though that I worked my butt off because my cum is how you say...NOT good. I knew I had to make sure my application was top notch so I spent a substantial amount of time on my essay and preparing for my interview.

I'm surprised I got in and my brother didn't... he's a cum laude! His CUM gpa was higher than a 3.6! It still baffles me and I am SUPER sad that he didn't get in =(.

My two good friends are in fullerton and they didn't get in either, I actually interviewed WITH them! That makes me VERY sad as well...

I feel the same way, I don't want to tell everyone because I don't want to gloat at the expense of their feelings.

But I am what you say I guess an "outsider" because I was not accepted conditionally into the Fullerton program on account of me not being finished quite yet with my bachelor's at the time. I currently attend Saddleback. (Which does not have a waitlist by the way)

It seems to me that provisional acceptance really did not mean anything, in fact, it's almost as if it hurts one's chances of getting into the program.

I must say though, CONGRATS again to those who got in, and to those who didn't get in, DON'T give up!!!

I here ya. My good friend, who applied along with me, didn't get in either. He had almost the same GPA as me but wasn't granted an interview. We're both super bummed he didn't get in.

I know what u mean too..I graduated from CSUF in '05 and was also conditionally accepted last year to finish my chem and physio..I didn't think my GPA was super great (3.71 last 60 units) and 4.0 pre-reqs. There was another girl in my current class who had a higher GPA than I and got wait-listed..So I am definately sure they took other areas of the application process seriously (like interview, letters, statement, etc.)

yeah so I emailed them today and they emailed everyone back saying they should be mailed after it being hopefully completed by June 8th. It makes sense that it will take a while since we are the very first class; I would rather have it late and well prepared than early with missing information. Either way, I'm so excited! Yay!

Where's my packet.......? LOL! Has anyone recieved there's yet? Hopefully we get them in a few days...

Hey everyone,

I'll be attending in the fall.

This packet is not very clear, anyone else having problems?

How is everyone getting proof of immunization? I have my official records but I guess they want titers.

Anyone done this two part TB test. Public health here won't do it and my doctors office won't either, where are we supposed to get it?

This is a pain!

Hello Mitkatze,

I've gotten half of my titers already at the school. The TB titers is really cheap. Just do it there. Because you are enrolled in the fall, you can use the health center's services but because you are not in summer school there is only a ten dollar fee. You can pretty much get all of the titers done there if you can't get them anywhere else.

Hope this helps.;)

See you all at orientation!

Did anyone have problems getting the sections they wanted? I was really bummed, I didn't get any of the sections I wanted :o My registration time was at 4pm, did anybody else have problems? I wonder if they'll open up a few more spots in the morning sections.
