  1. k8star, I actually am finishing up my second semester here at CSUF. It has been a challenging and crazy ride, but I am happy that I made the decision to stay at Fullerton. It was a tough decision for me as well to decide between CSUF and CSULB. I have learned a lot and have had wonderful clinical rotations here in the OC. We have a brand new skills lab that has enhanced our learning so much, through mock codes, practicing skills, ect. Nursing school is going to be tough no matter which school you choose, but I am content with my choice. The faculty is awesome at Fullerton...always there to help:D If you have any specific questions about Fullerton, let me know... Good luck on your decision. I know it will be tough. nskoog
  2. Hello, I am currently an EL-MSN student at Cal-State Fullerton. Almost all of us in the program have had to quit our jobs before entering the program. A few people still work a couple hours a week. The program is very intense. I have managed to live off of loans and a tuition grant. I took out both the Stafford unsubsidized and subsidized, a Federal Perkins, and a private loan. Almost all of us had to do the same.. Sometimes, you just got to do what you gotta do.. Taking out loans to live is worth it to get your RN. Most hospitals pay back a percentage of your loans for fulfilling a two year contract with them when you graduate. There really are not any scholarships for 1st semester EL-MSN students. There are more offers for scholarships later on in the program. It also depends on the program. Well, I hope this helped you a little. Good luck:) -nskoog
  3. What about a Wellness Dx? Readiness for enhanced Immunization status is one that might work.. AEB Obtaining immunizations recommended for age, etc. It's definition: A pattern of conforming to local, national, and/or international standards of immunizations to prevent infectious disease(s)...

  5. Hey, I'm not sure what the "i" stands for but the ss with a line over the top means one-half.. "gr" stands for grain, One grain= 60mg 1/2gr= 30mg This is the only thing I can think of for that problem..
  6. You are entirely welcome;) Best of luck to you in your application process!!!:):):)
  7. Hello Mitkatze, I've gotten half of my titers already at the school. The TB titers is really cheap. Just do it there. Because you are enrolled in the fall, you can use the health center's services but because you are not in summer school there is only a ten dollar fee. You can pretty much get all of the titers done there if you can't get them anywhere else. Hope this helps. See you all at orientation! nskoog
  8. Trust me, it was a VERY hard decision. I was accepted to both schools with almost the exact same program. I really liked CSULB's program because of the second degree BSN. Fullerton is not offering the second degree option at the moment. They BOTH have great programs and have wonderful reputations. However, in the end, I chose Fullerton for more personal reasons. The number one reason-- The faculty. They are awesome. They cared to speak with me, to hold meetings and show us around. They held interviews and we were able to meet everyone of them. At CSULB, I felt like I was "bothering" them anytime I called or had a question. It just seemed as if they didn't have a personal interest in any of us and I wasn't excited about that relationship. Everyone I talked to had the same opinion, but in the end, most only got accepted to one or were closer to that school, so chose to stay. I think once these programs start in the fall and we will have gone through the first year, we can give better advice about the programs.. And trust me, I will be here to help anyone because I knew the feeling when I was applying and trying to decide. Hope this helps.. -nskoog
  9. Hello drkentrystudent, I've been told a couple of times that we will have the option of choosing a "route" after completion of the MSN portion. There are still three years until we even get there so I'm sure everything will be planned out before then!
  10. I chose to start the program this fall at CSUF and there are several routes (Nurse Practioner) that we can pursue after completion of the EL-MSN. There is nurse anesthetist, FNP, WNP, Midwife, and a nurse administration option.
  11. Where's my packet.......? LOL! Has anyone recieved there's yet? Hopefully we get them in a few days...
  12. I heard they were supposed to be in our mailbox this week! Where are they?!
  13. Thanks so much for the advice:rolleyes:
  14. We will fulfill the pre-licensure requirements to sit for the NCLEX in the first 18 months. All of us have previous BA degrees. This is an EL-MSN program but I know some people will quit after receiving their RN and not finish the whole 3 year program (the MSN portion). If they do, they will still have a BA degree and a diploma for the RN, but it will not specifically be a BSN. Does that make sense? In a nutshell, school #1 is going to award us the BSN after the first portion of the EL-MSN and school #2 is not because they do not want us to quit.
  15. I already have a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. I just want to know if getting an RN without it being a BSN is going to matter because I already have a Bachelor's degree.. When you have a previous BA and you are entering nursing, they call it a "Second BSN."
