First loss...
I'm so sorry. Fetal deaths are the worst. I can only offer how I deal with fetal demises or deaths. I know its sad to say but I've learned to deal with deaths by helping out with RTS(resolve through sharing). When I had my first stillbirth it was awful. I wanted to cry right along with the family but you are their backbone. You can help the family and yourself by making that memory box, taking pictures, clipping the infants hair. Trust me, in that hard time the family really appreciates everything that you do for them.

After waiting what seemed like forever.....I passed with 75 questions
Hello all, I just wanted to let everyone in Ca know that you need to make sure your file is complete. I didn't think you would be able to test if your file wasn't complete but I did in fact test and I had to suffer waiting for over a week before learning that my livescan had been "lost" by the company that did them. I thought I had failed when my name wasn't posted on the BRN by the fifth day. So I called the board and low and behold my file was incomplete. Imagine that. I had to redo my livescan and two days later my name was on the BRN website. Woohoo. Now to the good news. I did in fact pass! I had 75Q with about 10 SATA, 2 math, 2 put in order, and the rest priority and pharm. Good luck to all that have yet to take the test. :p:loveya:

Info on L.A. County College of Nursing & Allied Health
Hello there, I am currently a student there and love it. The experience there is unlike any other you'll receive. I went to LVN school and we did our clinicals at private hospitals so I kinda knew what to expect as far as clinical rotation wise but when I went on the floors everything changed. You are the nurse for your patients. At some private hospitals the clinicals can be run a little differently giving you less independence but at this school you have your independence and at the same time the instructors are there to guide you. Interaction with staff can get trying at times but you will see stuff that you would have never imagined. Overall I think that this school makes for a great learning experience. :monkeydance:

Who's Waiting 4 Fall 07 Acceptance?
The school called me on Monday of this week and asked if I wanted to attend the bridge program. Uh duh, thats why I applied. I was very excited because they did say that they weren't notifying anyone unitl May. I think they are doing the bridge program applicants first because we have orientation next week! Talk about short notice. Also we start school they second week of June compared to the generic students that start in Aug. So good luck. Let me know if you get in =)

Hello all, Has anybody heard any news about the new direct-entry MSN program at CSUF? I went to the campus today and picked up an application and while I was there asked asked about the overall interest in the program. I was told it seems like its going to be a very competative group of people. Anyone here applying? We can all go through this together :monkeydance:

LVN to RN Cali style. Which schools are you waiting for?
Kitten79 So have you decided? The NCLEX pass rate for both schools are fairly similar. Maybe you could look into both schools and see what each focuses on as far as nursing 3 and 4. I know that at Glendale you take psych nursing in addition to nurs 3 but at PCC I think they lump it all together. Hmmm. Congrats for getting into both schools. I am still waiting on RCC and Mt sac and I never received anything from Glendale, just the letter saying that they received my app. Bummer.

So I called PCC and asked them about the alternate status and what are my chances and so on. I know they get tired of hearing this but oh well and the lady I spoke to said it was good that I was on the waiting list and that they usually have a wait list of about 20 people for the generic RN program and that last year they did take a good number from that list. So from this I am hoping that they pulled a shorter wait list for the ladder people and that would make my chances better. :DI guess they are waiting to see how many more people don't return thier letters, fail out of second semester and so on. But here's the one thing that sucks, she wouldn't give me a alternate number. So I can be number 1 or 30 who knows GRRRRRRR. SO here's hoping I get in. Orientation is coming up and I am ready he he. :trout: :pumpiron:

Well I chose PCC as my first school since it is the closest to my house but now I am leaning towards Glendale. I have heard some bad things from PCC from a couple of students who went there but I guess everyone has there own opinion.

LVN to RN Cali style. Which schools are you waiting for?
Hello, I am a lvn grad who has been playing the getting in to rn school to finish up school game all September trying to get my apps in. How has everyone else faired this year? :pI thought this post would help all of us who applied to So cal schools to see where we stand in regards to our applications. Here are the schools I applied to and if I have received any correspondence as of today: -Pasadena City College: Received letter last week stating I am an alternate and I have to attend orientation next month hoping a spot opens up -Riverside Community College: HESI test tomorrow and will find out position on entrace list next week. -Glendale Community College: Received letter that application has been accepted but nothing further. Should be any day now. -Mt SAC: Talked to a friend who has been in contact with the nursing department and she said that the letters are going out next week to enter the transition course in Jan. But I also heard that this trans class doesn't assure you a spot it just determines the strongest students and lists you from there. Any thoughts on that ladies? -San Bernardino Valley: Starts in March so nothing will be heard until Jan or Feb. I am wait listed at a couple of other schools in the area as well but won't start in the spring which is what I really would like. How is everyone else doing? I don't know if its just me or are we the last ones to find out? It seems like every other state has their answers fairly quickly? Well good luck to us all and hope to hear from some of you soon. :pumpiron::studyowl::crash_com:smiley_ab:icon_roll:cheers::chair:

Bummed out.Anybody receive their letter from Pasadena City College? I'm an alternate.
Ok, so I am a little bummed out. I received my letter from PCC today and I'm an alternate for the ladder program. I guess I should be happy to even be an alternate but I was so hoping on getting in there. I have apps in at a couple other local schools but this was my first choice :angryfire So anyways, has anyone had any experience in being on a wait list? I'm guessing its a good thing but how many alternates do they actually take? I have to attend the orientation with all the other students who got in, hoping that one of them drop so I can get in. I feel so evil he he. Anyways sorry I had to vent. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

Little Advice Please
Hello all, I had a couple of questions and would appretiate it if anyone can help me out. I have an offer to work in a large hospital on a inpatient floor working with oncology patients. I am a new grad LVN and think this is a great opportunity but I have no desire to work with these type of patients. What I really would like to do is work in the ER or pediatrics. I learned recently that there are some openings in the ER and really want to apply there but problem is I accepted the other position because the nurse manager offered it to me on the spot and I just reacted by saying yes. What should I do? I can transfer in 6 months but the recruiter is already going crazy with people transferring cuz they agree to a position that they did not really want. I have not started any paperwork with the other unit but have to get going on what I am going to do. Help!
