Direct Entry MSN CSUF

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hello all,

Has anybody heard any news about the new direct-entry MSN program at CSUF? I went to the campus today and picked up an application and while I was there asked asked about the overall interest in the program. I was told it seems like its going to be a very competative group of people. Anyone here applying? We can all go through this together :monkeydance:

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and have a question. The Direct Entry MSN thread is closed, so I thought I would post to this. Please let me know if this is not okay and direct me to the correct place. Like I said, newbie here.

My question is about Direct Entry MSN Programs. Specifically, I want to emerge with a FNP. So far, I have found a program that I LOVE at Emory University but the only way I'll be able to afford it is with a SERIOUS scholorship.

I'm wondering how you all do it. All of the programs I have found are very intensive. Financial Aid would cover tuition, but with no time to work, how do you live? Where's the money, everyone?

Any and all help with this would be fabulous. I'm scared and excited all at the same time. I've found what I want to do, and don't want money to keep me from it! Thanks much!

Hello,

I am currently an EL-MSN student at Cal-State Fullerton. Almost all of us in the program have had to quit our jobs before entering the program. A few people still work a couple hours a week. The program is very intense. I have managed to live off of loans and a tuition grant. I took out both the Stafford unsubsidized and subsidized, a Federal Perkins, and a private loan. Almost all of us had to do the same.. Sometimes, you just got to do what you gotta do.. Taking out loans to live is worth it to get your RN. Most hospitals pay back a percentage of your loans for fulfilling a two year contract with them when you graduate.

There really are not any scholarships for 1st semester EL-MSN students. There are more offers for scholarships later on in the program. It also depends on the program. Well, I hope this helped you a little. Good luck:)
