Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09
CONGRATS Candleguy on passing NCLEX!!! And congrats to those who got the offer so far! I hope they're still offering! I did a lot of work looking at places, and although I have already found my apartment (it's one of those big apt companies, not privately owned), I have a few links that you can consider to look at. I thought I'd share with you what I've found since I've been laborously looking for apts 3 days strait in LA. I'm starting on the 20th, and finishing my summer session so this bites! These are places close to cedars: This would have probably been the first runner up: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/apa/1246999161.html it has 2 parking spaces (1 garage!) and a nice kitchen, haven't been here actually but it seems promising. I know the guy hasn't sold it yet as of today! There are other places that I looked at, but am not sure if you'd be interested. You can pm me if you want me to tell you. But I think you can find those on craigslist. BEST ADVICE is to type in area code 90048 and 90036 for a place close to cedars. I also found a place in 90019...but you have to be careful with that area code because some places are gheettto!!! PM me if you want some more info! Goodluck! Hope this helps!

Yesdog, good for her! Hey is she in the EL-MSN program? I'm in one of those too, 'cept I passed my NCLEX in Feb and am still doing my MSN. Is she done with her MSN or is still working on it? Also, my friend is starting in July also! She's also in the EL-MSN program, but she got hired in January! They said that there is another start date scheduled for early august...that's what I want cuz I have summer school, but hey I'll take July!

Aiyyyaiyyaaaaai... 2-3 MORE weeeks.... I too have not been graced by any phone calls... as for the interview letters, I sent mine in via hardcopy... did anyone else send theirs in? I sent it through the nurse recruitment office with an RE: for my interviewer. Thanks for the info on the actual numbers! So 250/over 1500= less than 16% chance of getting it...yikes! Anyone else hear anything??

Oh my goodness! My heart is totally racing! It says you posted at 3:41pm, an it's like 2pm here... how strange, are you in a diff time zone? Congrats to your gf! Gosh I'm so nervous now... ahhh I really do hope I get a call soon...this is so nerve wracking! Goodluck everyone! *crossing fingers! -Also from what I've heard, newgrads accepted will be in medsurge first and then depending how they do, they have to interview again for a specialty.

Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09
Hello all! I too interviewed for June 4th and it certainly bites having to wait! I just called them today and they (sounding really frustrated and annoyed probably from a gazillion phone calls) said that we have to wait AT LEAST another 2 weeks because "there are sooo many applicants"... It's really frustrating to be in this "limbo" situation where my life is contingent upon this answer... sigh. *Special thanks to whoever started this thread!!! I really hope I get a phone call :bowingpur... and same to the others on this forum!!! I don't think it's fair either that they had a GPA requirement for those of you who had to travel from out of state! I'm thinking they want to get as many people as they can so that they can have more choices... My interviewer was quite informative in explaining why they asked certain questions. They want to make sure you have basic clinical skills, as well as good people skills. Some of the questions were pretty textbook, but you can easily add your own personal spin to them. I take it that the scoring was up to a max of 5. She mentioned there was no right or wrong answer, and it's up to the interviewer to see if you "got it". I felt a really good vibe from our session so hopefully it's not all a facade! Having to wait so long makes me question myself as far as how good I thought my interview and portfolio actually was in comparison to the whole group! Although I feel as though I have a rather strong portfolio, I saw quite a few 4.0's on that sign up sheet! I hope they look at everything... luckily my interviewer took the time to read over my WHOLE packet, which was nice! I wonder how much say our interviewer has in the hiring process... hopefully a lot (in my case)! Goodluck to everyone :redbeathe!!! PLEASE let us know if you hear anything... on second thought maybe not 'cause that could be bad news! Ahhh! -hello-wannabe

Direct Entry MSN CSUF
yeah so I emailed them today and they emailed everyone back saying they should be mailed after it being hopefully completed by June 8th. It makes sense that it will take a while since we are the very first class; I would rather have it late and well prepared than early with missing information. Either way, I'm so excited! Yay!

Come to think of it, I don't think I factored my GPA without adding the two classes I'm taking... my bf did it for me, I think he said depending on HOW they actually grade it, I either had a 3.6 or a 3.75, but that is contingent upon me getting an A in both Micro and Physio, So without those 9 semester units, I would say maybe a 3.5? I will say though that I worked my butt off because my cum is how you say...NOT good. I knew I had to make sure my application was top notch so I spent a substantial amount of time on my essay and preparing for my interview. I'm surprised I got in and my brother didn't... he's a cum laude! His CUM gpa was higher than a 3.6! It still baffles me and I am SUPER sad that he didn't get in =(. My two good friends are in fullerton and they didn't get in either, I actually interviewed WITH them! That makes me VERY sad as well... I feel the same way, I don't want to tell everyone because I don't want to gloat at the expense of their feelings. But I am what you say I guess an "outsider" because I was not accepted conditionally into the Fullerton program on account of me not being finished quite yet with my bachelor's at the time. I currently attend Saddleback. (Which does not have a waitlist by the way) It seems to me that provisional acceptance really did not mean anything, in fact, it's almost as if it hurts one's chances of getting into the program. I must say though, CONGRATS again to those who got in, and to those who didn't get in, DON'T give up!!!

hahahaha omg! duh! I shoulda thought of that! CONGRATULATIONS!!! YAAAY!!!! I got in tooo!!! I think I'm gonna work all summer to save up for the program...I'm so excited, aren't you?!!! SAAAWEEEEET! Yeah my bachelor's cum was low, but I kicked butt in the end and in my pre-reqs... I'm actually finishing up micro and phys right now, currently have an A in both classes and my finals are on the 15th and 16th of May. Has anyone else heard anything of what to expect? Congrats to the other two who got in, dmat and ongok? yay! anyone else???

RN to MD?
Thanks np_wannabe and Flag for your help! I will definitely check out that site! I guess I'm a little overhwhelmed with all my premed searches! I figure no matter what, I'll be in school for a while regardless of what career path I choose. It looks so far that I will probably take the longer RN route... I'm thinking I could knock off some Bachelor's requirements because I already have one, and perhaps I can try to squeeze in some pre-med classes. That is, all after I become an RN and decide later on that I still have the drive to become a doctor. I can't help but bang my head with my books everytime I think of how much I regret being a bad student as an undergrad! haha oh well. Hey I'm not saying a RN is not a great occupation. My mother is a RN at kaiser and she's a great woman. I guess I'm just scared with my type of personality that if I do become an RN, I'm going to wish I was a doctor. Or maybe I won't and I will be happy, but I see it coming. I am pretty much decided on becoming an RN first because I don't want to burden my parents and my bf. If I do the doctor route, then I want to be the one that has to sacrifice. Oh yeah, just curious...to Flag, I believe? I was just curious if you don't mind me asking... why did you deny med school??? I mean maybe your answer will help me feel more eased, or maybe not... maybe I'm just curious why you would go through all the grueling requirements and processes and not go through with it?? Thanks again though for all your support!!!
