Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!
Good Luck!
I think a certain percentage of our clinical hours can be done with sim lab and even online simulations so while direct patient care is preferable, they may be falling back on remote sim in order to graduate the class on time given that Columbia already does so many hours of in-person clinicals, they're probably pretty well covered. I have no first-hand knowledge I just know that some other programs have done this.

Hi hope everyone's staying safe! I just wanted to clarify since I'm a bit confused- did accepted applicants also receive the Programming Update email or was that only for waitlisted students? It's confusing since it talks about registering for prereqs courses that we should have already finished already/ should finish by the start of the program. I'm just trying to figure out if its a general email or an email that was specifically given to a selected group.

What did this email state?

The email talked about registering for online prerequisite courses offered by the university, how for the springtime only it was accepting pass/fail grades due to covid if it makes certain criteria, and talked about info sessions offered to get in contact with the university. It was a standard email, I just thought everyone got it, but maybe it was only sent to those that haven't been officially accepted as of yet.

Yeah, I didn’t receive this email so it’s probably for those on the waitlist

Right and I didn’t receive it either.
Also I did hear from a student or two who have chosen to go to another institution just haven’t gotten around to letting CU know yet so just keep you’re fingers crossed for the good news, those waitlisted, because it is coming soon.

the email was very sus. considering we (waitlist) have not heard one thing from CU since end of January. why was it onyl sent to waitlisters? an email talking about prereqs is ..frustrating to say the least. I have also gotten emails about their post bac pre med program and about their general admissions nursing program. I know those are probably auto emails but its just a let down.

I’m not sure ? if they will extend my friends time at Columbia now that she’s missed this round of clinicals for the semester. Plus now they have all the mde students who accepted a global experience preceptorship and now have to find them a position here once things settle and it becomes safe. That’s another concern is how do they plan to swing this without us having to add additional time to be in the program.
