Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!
Good Luck!
Quick question for other accepted students- have any of you received the link for your UNI and/or the accepted students' webpage (mentioned in the email last night)? I have access to the financial aid webpage stuff as well as the page where they posted the acceptance letter, but not to the student dashboard or my UNI. I think they were planning to send this out a couple of weeks ago before, obviously, everything changed. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it if they sent in the meantime? Thank you!

No, they haven’t sent anything yet (UNI sign in) they are I guess trying to gather everything and sending it little by little. From what it sounded in the email we received yesterday, we will not be starting our clinicals until the fall semester, which is September so we will still have more time to gather the test, physical exam and vaccines required. Which is one of the many reasons for the UNI login.
@Nurse luckynp Thank you! I just wanted to make sure I didn't somehow miss that email, given how they were referring to it in the message from last night. I'm sure you're right that the physical/vaccinations, etc., will be postponed accordingly.

No problem @momo90 you’re welcome ?.
I’m anxiously waiting for more information because I’m eager to see how this will all play out. I love the safety measures they’re taking but sad about not being able to do clinicals in the Summer when that was one of the reasons I chose Columbia. I know it’s for good reasons, still disappointing.

Yes, just checked and same thing.

Completely agree with you. Disappointed not to get the crazy Summer I orientation + class/clinical experience in-person, and even though I've taken online classes before and it's been great, I am a little apprehensive about taking these particularly intensive classes online without the camaraderie of the cohort together (in-person at least)... BUT also thrilled that they aren't delaying our start date (for many reasons including that I'm going straight through to DNP and that would have messed up the DNP start for me). And feeling ESPECIALLY grateful after hearing from a number of people in other programs for nursing, PA, etc., that their graduation is being postponed because they can't finish their Spring semester clinicals. And at this moment when we need all the healthcare heroes we can get.
Columbia is definitely top-notch and I'm looking forward to seeing how they roll with the online format and maybe even some online sim.

Yes I’m definitely thinking of moving forward with the DNP as well and would like not to delay the start of the program either. I was looking forward to meeting everyone in person and completing the volunteer experience they hold yearly and also the cruise via circle line boat around manHartman with good food and drinks as we celebrated the start of the program. I feel bad because my gf is in the now cohort doing her classes online I barely hear from her so must be tough. They aren’t completing clinicals right now but now to top that she will not be able to walk down the aisle at the end of May to celebrate commencement. WOW! I didn’t realize other programs aren’t even moving forward with the semester. We definitely need all the healthcare staff we can get. Did you see NYU medical students that are ready for graduation This year are being asked to commit to working as an ER md at NYU and they can forego the last three months of classes if they agree to commit to the ED now.

I hope it’s the former, rather than the latter. If it’s the former, I don’t think I’ll have any problem juggling classes and working. I spent 6 years of my life working full time while being a full time student. What’s another 3-4 months? Haha
