Direct Entry MSN 2020 at Columbia University

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!

Good Luck!

Hi All- when/where is the paperwork you received regarding vaccinations? I never received anything of that nature... any way you could post a picture or screen grab? Thanks so much!

they havent even responded to the waitlisters...I'm guessing they are very backed up with trying to get the current student classes in order

Hi Aw1992,

my friend is attending the current mde class that’s to graduate this year she is in class online at home they are all set up. Obviously not doing clinicals in the hospital because the school building is closed, all of this is canceled. So she’s at home doing the classes the best she can making for with what she has.
thus situation is getting worst by the minute. I just don’t see how we could start at the end of May. I also had made my doctors appointment a while back but I assume they will have to work around most of us won’t be able to obtain our titers vaccine and bloodwork in a timely fashion. With things the way they are now we prob will have to push back the school year or so without. At this point everything and everyday is up in the air.

Hi everyone!
like someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, I’m also struggling to get my vaccinations and physician completed. I’m very worried about losing my spot in the program due to it. On the paperwork, it even says that some of the vaccinations/titers may take about 2 months to be read/completed.

I’ve emailed Columbia but no response yet. I’m just hoping there will be accommodations for this. ?

You received paperwork with information on some of the stuff we need to do?? ? I didn’t receive any paperwork or directions and have just been waiting for the student portal to be released because I don’t know any of the requirements to start the program. Help please! ?

I don’t even remember how I found the link if I’m being honest LOL

anyone think they’ll lower the rate for the student loan? or are those rates that we agreed to locked in already? it’ll be great if they decrease it...at least something good can come out of this

I just reached out to CU regarding our discussions surrounding this specific form, and whether or not there will be extended deadlines for health requirements. She just responded saying that information regarding immunizations and health requirements will be shared later this week! ?

Yup. My PCP called me today and said her office will be closed until May....so I’m hoping there’s definitely something being done to help us.

Is it wishful thinking to hope they would do everyone’s immunization, vaccines, and visit for free LOL ?

Thank you for checking this out!

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is safe and healthy in these unsure times. If you haven’t heard yet but Columbia is putting all of the Summer courses online for the MDE cohort. Clinicals for the Summer are cancelled and out of state and or town students do not have to move in the Summer.

I just saw! And orientation will be online too. I’m kind of happy to get an extra few months of working and saving money with this switch.

You think you will be able to still work while in the program? I wonder will it be online classes that we can log onto at anytime or a full day of classes like it would be in class. I would love to keep my job for a little longer.
