Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!
Good Luck!
It was on that email that the school would be hosting weekly information sessions on Wednesdays. Since it was the topic we were discussing prior on the forum it was noted that only waitlisters got that email if they did (some people didn't)- I'm just trying to figure out if anyone asked about decisions or was able to attend if at all

They will be responding back to waitlist next week they said
Hey @momo90
I had considered it, since I have an MPH and think it would be a review of a lot of what I have studied. I want to learn more about the process though- I read somewhere that to test out you still have to pay like $300/credit, and it’s a 3-credit class so that’s a chunk of change! I heard at visiting day that it is an extremely softball class, so I will probably save my money and sit through it. Hopefully they talk about this during the Q&A sessions.

It looks like there's a $375 exam fee (so bummer if you don't get B or higher on the exam bc I assume that's nonrefundable), and then a $150/credit fee if you pass the exam, so $825 total. That's nothing to sneeze at, but definitely less than the cost of the class. I haven't heard anything about it, but good to know that some others have said it's easier. Definitely hoping they go more into detail soon...

Definitely, my job is pretty slow right now given the COVID situation so I have a little bit of unexpected free time I could use to study for this...
Thanks for finding the fees! But I am under the impression that we pay a tuition every term, and that they do not charge students per credit hour. So it would be that $825 on top of your tuition, so you’re not really getting a break there. Unless of course passing the class frees up an entire day or two a week where then you could work and bring in some cash!
Looking forward to the info sessions!

I recommend you just take the EBP course, most got As. It was not a hard course at all. I also have an MPH and I actually chose to exempt the class as I had upper level research courses in my coursework. They exempt you from having to take it, but the credits do not transfer, you still need those 3 credits as part of the MS degree requirements. So you have to make-up the credits with an elective at some point.
Just a thought ?
