Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!
Good Luck!

Honestly they should just be honest about the waitlist at this point and say they are probably not accepting anyone. It’s literally been almost a year of waiting and emailing with no response ...This was before covid. It’s shocking ...

Yes @Gmilitar said it best just hang in there. Some people aren’t deciding to stick with the program and still haven’t gotten around to letting admissions know is why.

I also got accepted to Hopkins (which starts in fall and is a bit longer) and I'm trying to weigh out the pros and cons of each. Is anyone in a similar boat or have advice?
Thank you and stay safe ❤️
me. I'm also starting to question if I should attend or attend a different university (Penn) in the fall.

May I inquire about the pros and cons you have determined apply to you? I was in a similar situation because I was accepted to all the schools I applied to. I had extreme difficulty choosing between Columbia and Vanderbilt and I ended up moving forward with Columbia as a result. For me both schools have moved to online formats for the start of the program so that helped me weigh out the pros and cons of both programs.

CU biggest selling point is their sim lab..without that, online classes, no access to schools facilities for a few months (in a program that's only 15months)..is it worth around 150K? IDK either...gotta weigh the options these days

Well in the most recent seminar we just had, they did let us know that Winter break would be shortened by about 2 weeks to make up for the sim labs/clinicals we will be missing for the Summer semester. So if that’s a concern, as much as it sucks to lose out on vacation time, they have found a way to make it up for us. Summer vacation will remain untouched.

And let’s not forget that a current MDE student said CU prepares their Nursing students by having them complete more than the amount needed for clinical. For example, if it’s standard for nursing students to have 1000 hours of clinicals, CU will have their nursing students do 1500, or maybe even 2000.
Another thing to remember CU has decided for the time being to implement an online simulation lab used in a number of other institutions, around the world. And I have taken the time to look into this software and think it’s pretty nifty, very innovative, and informative, the fact that we get to use this for our Summer lab , and we will be able to still practice with this system once face to face clinicals are restored, in the fall semester has me excited. Yes, like most of you I was also looking forward to the sim lab, and to all the clinical experiences I would gain. I also fell in love when I first saw CU’s sim lab and imagined myself in it as a student prior to getting accepted but at least we get to experience some sort of lab overall, how many schools are doing this. Even though the sim lab is in the format of a video game at least we get to complete it for the Summer, opposed to having nothing at all, until the fall semester begins when we will make up all of the in person clinicals and sim lab hours that we had t really missed but just will have an overabundance of.

I was also choosing between Columbia MDE & Penn 2nd BSN, and chose Columbia. I almost switched to Penn when Columbia said the Summer session would be online, but then Penn said they'll be online for the Summer also so I'm sticking with Columbia. Were you considering the Penn 2nd BSN that starts in the Summer or a different program?
