Hi all! I'm looking for some advice. I just got rejected from nursing school. I have a 3.9 GPA (one B in my GE's and the rest are A's), I scored a 94 on my TEAS and have volunteer experience plus those "life experience" points. I have over 10 years of foreign language studies (German), but they won't count it because it's not considered by the Chancellors office to be "beneficial". At this point, the only thing I can do to bring up my points on my application is to go through a CNA program, but I won't be certified in time to submit it for the next application period so I would end up waiting another year just to apply. Any suggestions?

Is this the only school you can attend? Every school has different requirements. I made a spreadsheet with EVERY BSN/ADN program in my area and what their admission requirements were and went from there. Perhaps you could ask the school what you could do to make yourself a stronger candidate.
I applied to the three schools that were open for this application period. More open up in the fall that I plan to apply to. Unfortunately, I tried to contact the three schools regarding my application and what I did or didn't get credit for and what improvements I can make and they said that they can't disclose that information.

Your gpa and teas are exemplary! Makes no sense that you didn't get into at least one of the three schools you applied to.

My advice would be to figure out why you weren't accepted with those scores. I mean, those are very good. Do you have any withdrawals? Do you have a record? Any convictions? etc. If you were rejected by 3 schools with those scores, theres an underling issue I'm sure. GL with your future applications.
Thank you for your responses! I don't have any withdrawals or pass/no pass classes and my lowest grade in any class was a B+. I just passed a background check for a job I applied to and it was completely clean, I've never even had a parking ticket. They checked my vaccinations and TB tests before hand and confirmed that they were fine. That's why I'm so confused. I'm going to reapply in July and hope that it's not as competitive, I'm just concerned that I'm going to run into the same problem and if I don't know how to fix it, I have no chance. They are going to let me review my application to reuse any paperwork I can so I'm hoping there are some notes on there or something.

Are you maybe in a super saturated area? All I can think is that the other candidates just had higher stats. Or there's something else that counts against you.

Do any of the schools admit using a lottery program? or are they all based on points?

I don't think there is necessarily an underlying issue. I read one time when X number of "perfect" applicants were rejected from a program simply because there were that many "perfect" applicants. My advice would be to widen the area where you cast your net. Apply to twice, or even three times as many, programs next time, with the thought in mind that you will make the sacrifices involved to attend the program that accepts you. Best wishes.

I know that many of the schools I were considering gave automatic admissions to freshman that completed the requirements which only gave a certain number of spots to anyone else. This past fall, freshmen took up 100 of the 120 spots, and with nearly 500 applicants per cycle, there were a lot of amazing candidates that were passed on because there simply weren't enough spots. I'm not sure how it is where you live (it says CA) but in Texas is crazy competitve, I've seen people with 4.0GPAs and 94/95 TEAS rejected because they didn't have all the special considerations that freshman or degree-holders have. It's a scary world out there.

Yep. I have a 4.0, TEAS of 375, exemplary letters of recommendation, professors trying to push me to go into medical school (due to my age, experience and grades) rather than nursing, and I am STILL nervous about being accepted for this fall.
Once school I've applied to already has over 370 applicants for 32 positions in the Fall cohort. Its crazy competitive.
I am genuinely surprised though that not a single one of the admissions staff wouldnt sit down with you and review your packet to see what areas you could improve on.
