Did u have to move to find a job?

Hello everyone.

I've seen so many threads about new grads not finding a job that I'm curious as to how many of you had to actually move(from city to city, state, or maybe just neighborhood)

If you can list:

Highest nursing education?

Specialty if any?

Desired job setting?(hosp, LTC, clinic)

Did you move from your city, neighborhood or state?

Did it suit you well to actually move?

So nobody on this site has had to actually move to be employed as a nurse?

Well great then. The job market is not as detrimental as I'd imagined :)

Highest nursing education- ADN

Specialty- None

Desired job setting- Hospital. My dream job was ER, but for a first job I wanted nights (preferably 3 12s) on a Med-Surg floor.

Did you move from your city, neighborhood or state- I moved from Massachusetts to Vermont.

Did it suit you well to actually move?- No. After a year in Assisted Living, 6 nightmare weeks in a nursing home, and 3 years home health, I'm no closer to a hospital job than I was the day I graduated. My agency is cutting everyone's schedules back, and my flu shot gig fell through (the company closed). I'm also pregnant, so not really in a position to go job hunting.

Didn't matter-nursing is nursing; however, I would take another hospital job again; been out of the hospital setting for a long time-was a LPN for seven years and worked in a Rehab hospital, LTC and in home care/ambulatory/community health. Five years before that I worked as a Tech in ER and Tele; if anything, I would live to work in PACU, Obsevation/24H EDU as my preferred niche of a job in a hospital; I would do Stepdown, or Critical Care, even LTACH soon as I get a more skilled foundation (hence the current LTC job that I have)

Nope...casted my net wide to get a job; take an opportunity while trying to see WHAT will be the next niche I would like to stay in. Because of my past experience, what was preventing me in getting jobs was that 2 years experience...even with my one year experience, I'm getting more calls back for hospital positions than when I first got licensed.

The key was getting some experience is what did it for me; I was considering moving when several recruiters contacted me on LinkedIn. Most did not pay for relocation, so I decided to get my RN sea legs locally instead. :)

You're right. I'm just trying to stay positive and really hoping not many ppl have had to move to find a job as a nurse :)

Did you move from your city, neighborhood or state? For my second job I moved to a different city.

Did it suit you well to actually move? The move was a terrible experience but necessary. Gave me a good stepping stone to get to where I am at now.

Specialty, if any? Started in ER but am now in med surg, and just started in cardiac.

Desired job setting? Would like to work up to ICU, but I am very happy to be in a hospital setting.

Did you move from your city, neighborhood, or state? Yes, I did. To Fargo, ND.

Did it suit you we'll to actually move? I think so. At least here, there are lots of jobs for nurses. The weather during winter sucks, nurses aren't always treated well, and there's little room for career growth, but the move has been a good one. Eventually I want to move someplace where the pay is better and nurses are treated better, like Minneapolis. For now, Fargo will do.

Did you move from your city, neighborhood or state? No. I drove 20 minutes to a neighboring town to work at a rehab center for two months. I then got a job at a hospital in my city.

Hello does anyone know if Chamberlain Nursing school (Atlanta's campus) pre=set days and times for classes or do you have options for day or evening classes?

BSc (hons) general nursing

Colorectal and hepatobillary surgery

Teritary public hospital

Moved from Ireland to Australia

yes Ireland's economy was tanking as I left pay cuts recruitment freezes etc
