85 percent of US-educated candidates pass NCLEX on the first attempt, so this equates to roughly four out of five people who pass on the first try.
Here's the silver lining: the vast majority of test takers pass NCLEX on the first attempt. However, it's the people who fail that capture our attention the most.
The passing standard for NCLEX is raised every three years or so. I took NCLEX-RN in May 2010 and the passing standard had been raised in April 2010.I guess it's because of the raise in the passing standard as of April 2013?
This is nothing new. Since nursing is constantly changing, NCLEX must change with it.
The Commuter just took the words out of my mouth.
But to echo, according to the NCSBN 85% of US-eduacated people taking the NCLEX (PN and RN) for the first time pass it.
I did see on a site (Kaplan? NCSBN?) that they expect the 'failure' rate to increase 3-5% with the new passing standard that was implimented on 4/1/13.
My State's pass rate is always higher than the National average.
I passed both my NCLEX-PN and my NCLEX-RN the first time.

Heard from another nurse that 1 in 4 students will fail the first attempt at the nclex.... this goes for PN and RN....
When I look at the quarterly pass rates for the BON this doesn't seems to be correct.
So... I'm Curious....
