Did I Just Roll My Eyes Out Loud?

I was met this morning on the way to my office by a student saying, "They need you at your office, some one is hurt." Okay.....

I round the corner and there sits one of my biggest SNOWFLAKES with an aide at his side. As soon as she looks at me I mouth, "Really!?" and I do believe I rolled my eyes. She just shook her head and said yes. I'm so glad he had his eyes closed. Long story short, mom was here by 815 to pu Snowflake.

6 more days people, 6 more days!!!! Can we keep it together? Especially for the next 2 days, since they are my daughters last 2 days.

We used to have a unit sec'y that would answer the phone, put the person on hold, announce over the PA, "Prmenrs? This Bud's for you!" Any parent in the NICU could hear her! Can we say, "Unprofessional"?

What's up with kids nowadays? When I was in elementary, I went to the nurse once in 8 years. In high school I went once in 4 years.what's wrong with biting the bullet?

Tell me about it! I went to the school nurse all of 1 time in elementary school. A ceiling tile fell in the cafeteria/gym and hit me in the head/neck/shoulders/arms. There was blood. Lots of it. So it was warranted.

Specializes in tele, ICU, CVICU.

I'm not a school nurse or have a story to share, but.......

OP, when I read the title of your post, I laughed so hard, I sprayed my drink. Good thing nobody was around to get sprite sprayed...

This is something I've never been able to prevent from getting under my skin; from kids and adults but mostly adults. Do you really think I would walk into my office and not realize someone is in there if you hadn't told me????? My favorite is, "You have a customer!" I think when I've decided on my last year of school nursing I'm gonna hit everyone who says that to me in the face with a shovel.

Nah, it would just mean you have to care for more patients before they lock you up. LOL

Specializes in med/surg, clinic, school.

I leave my office very rarely during the day, an occasional trip to the office to make a copy or get some records from the secretary. By then i usually have a hand full of kids in my office waiting and EVERY~SINGLE ~ person i pass in the hallway back to my office tells me i have someone waiting for me. Annoys the heck out of me. As long as there are no bones sticking out or gushing blood the little ones will be fine for the few minutes it takes for me to get back. HUGE EYE ROLL!!

Yes my number of visitors are increasing too. My favorite is the teacher who rolls her eyes at me when I tell her that the multiple kids she sends DAILY with various "injuries" are fine and get sent back to class. Then having that same teacher admit that once the students saw that my office was empty yesterday all their injuries and complaints disappeared. Hmmmm is it magic????, or perhaps I might actually know what I'm talking about. *shoulder shrug*

Funny - in all my years of school I NEVER saw the school nurse - I don't even know where the nurse's office was. And it seems like for some of you it's the student's second home..... Have a great summer to all school nurses!

I can relate, thank you to the OP; Did everyone make it out alive?! Happy Summer to All School Nurses and For all you do..Enjoy!

Definitely a second home at my school!! I work in a small school. I pretty much know every student's name. Problem is, I have seen majority of them during the school year! Some students have been here 30 times. One student is at 54 visits this year! Can't wait to be done! 9 more days and then the only complaints I'll be dealing with are from my own kids!
