Hello,

First of all, thanks to all those who are listening to me. Here's my story. I took the 1st NCLEX RN and failed at 265 question. The result came home and 1 category above passing, the rest near passing standard. How did i study for it? I read the ATI and do Saunder's questions. I feel that I didn't know my material. To prepare for the second exam, I read the whole Saunder's book and of course do all their question. I did about 700 Kaplan's qbank questions some Mosby's. Second test i got around 100-110 questions.

My questions to you is has anybody heard of someone failed on their first attempt at 265 and next fail at 110? I feel really dump. How can I do worst, I suppose to improve.

Also, I took test on the 15th at 8 am, the results should be posted on 17th online right? I feel that after two days, the chance is significantly lower.

Quick response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

B.

I found the Saunder's book and used that, this was just before Suzanne started her program. Hang in there you can still pass.

whatever number you shut down , you cant predict if you pass or fail. im just lucky enough that I took the nclex-rn exam only once and I stop at 77q's. i used kaplan book (the basic and the course book) then some supplement book like the new format nclex exam by lippincot, practice cd question and the ncsbn online review. no matter how prepared you are for the exam anything can go and you must be prepared for it and face it what ever is the outcome. just hold on to your dream and never lose hope! goodluck! :loveya:

My first attempt i just took the test and didnt review, it cut off at 181. I had three areas of below passing and the rest was near passing. Just took second test tuesday got 265 and didnt pass. I only reviewed a little. So now, im going to study more. But the way i understood how pass or fail goes, is the computer will stop when it is 95% certain that your ability is above or below the passing standard. If you get 265 the 95% is waived and it is according to your ability, so either your ability is above or below passing. If time runs out and you dont get to finish your pass or fail is determined by if you have been consisently above the passing standard you will pass, but im not sure for how many questions you have to be consistent, i think its like the last 50-60 questions. People fail if they only meet the passing standard or is below it, so you have to pass above it.

There is hope for you. hang in there:wink2:

Hey don't stress about it. The first time I took the testI had 265 and failed....then the next time I took it I had 265 and failed again :( Hang in there, I am going to try Suzanne's plan and hang my head up until I take my test again. I know it is an aweful feeling but, you will get through this.

What state are you testing for? Each state does things differently.

You mentioned Santa Clara as a location, if in CA they do things differently altogether.

Average waiting time is ten days. Earliest is usually about three days. And can be up to a month.

And they do not participate in Quick Results either.

For my LPN I fail at 265, 2nd attempt pass at 95.

For the nclex-rn 1st test I ran out of time at 250, all near passing. I didn't study that much. My 2nd test stoped at 114 and like you I did worst, I thought I did better but still I failed. I had one below passing the other catagories where near passing. I too find it very puzzling. I just took my 3rd test on the 18th and I ran out of time too at around 235, I'm waiting for results. I don't think I pass this one.

BECKYBN2,

hi, I have failed 2 times and passed on my third try. I know one of my closest friend who have failed 3 times and passed 4th try. She had 1st time 75, then 210, then 75 and last 265. So there is hope.

Just keep studying and focus on things that are very important for the NCLEX. For example, ABCs, labs, procedures, endocrines mainly, gait points, basic calculations, Respiratory, and main medications (even though it is very hard to know what medications to study for, atleast know the class each medications are in and the Side effects.)

lastly, Don't forget to ask GOD for help. Because, i am telling you from my own experiences. Because when you pass, trust me, You'll definetly thank HIM at the end and that will be one of the first words coming out of your mouth!!!

lots of good luck and keep your hopes high!!!

:nurse:For you all that dont have confidence in yourself let me tell you my story. I started nursing school 4 years ago I worked full-time and went to school part time for 2 years and Full time for 2 years. I have 2 daughters at the time i started school they were 11 and 7. & we were on our own. I struggled through nursing school almost every semester it came down to my finals. I am a horrible test taker I have very bad test anxiety issues. I took my boards in July I had 76 ? and failed I was devistated I think I was the only one in my class that failed. I can tell you I work with a wonderful group of people they have been with my from day one through the tears LOTS OF THEM!! They always told me "I never could do what you are doing" to me it was a way of life. I took my boards for the second time yesterday I had 263 questions. I was good till about 150 then I started to panic-and kept thinking why wont this shut off! at about 200 I began to give up reading the questions but hurrying through them. It took me the whole 6 hours. I left the testing center and sobbed. I called my husband and he reassured me that you don't know for sure~I cried off and on all night. Today I went to work it was a busy day~I work at a ambulatory surgery center. I was pulled in the office by the Business manager which is an RN and the director of Nursing~not knowing why I thought what did I do! my nursing manager said to me look at the computer you are a nurse. I was so excited all my hard work paid off. To review I used Exam Cram RN and RN-3500 (it is free questions online) i did questions every day for about 2 months. So to all that you that struggle and are not confident in yourself. IF I did it YOU CAN~trust me I am the Queen of Drama and everything in my life never goes as planned but today It all fell into place. GOOD LUCK DONT GIVE UP!!!!!
