Did anyone apply to UCLA's MECN Program for Fall 2009?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.

Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?

I think decisions are made too. Positive energy everyone.

Anybody know whether letters are being mailed today or sometime later this week?

From reading last years thread and after speaking to Shelli, the acceptance letters get sent out during the first week of March.

Hi Musictonurse! Yeah, I am in a similar boat. Since I took chemistry more than 5 years ago, there were a couple schools that would not accept it, so I had to take ochem to make up for that. But, there are some schools where I don't even need that class! It is kinda frustrating. I think I have to finish it though, because the drop date is 4/03, and I still won't know about a couple schools at that point! Yeah, mesa is very close. I thought it would be funny if we were sitting in the same class and didnt even know it.

So, do you guys think the letters may come today?? I'm getting nervousss.

mail came today- nothing there...

anyone else?

Nope, I doubt anyone will get anything till around the end of the week.

Almost every other graduate program at UCLA uses the email notification system. I'm not sure why the nursing program doesn't use it for everyone (fellowship and non-fellowship recipients). It seems more efficient. There must be a reason why they don't. Did anyone else receive their acceptance via email?

I don't think anyone else has received an acceptance from UCLA other than you.

From what I read in the last year's thread, it appears that SON does not notify anyone by email. Those who SON recommended for fellowship received email notification from graduate division. So they knew about a week before others found out by snail mail sent by SON.

The only explanation that I can think of not using email would be that it could seem cruel to reject applicants by simple email messages. But frankly, I would prefer to know sooner than later no matter how curt the answer is. Rejection is rejection no matter how you put it IMHO. Why add torture of 2-3 days of uncertainty?

I agree! It doesn't matter how you're rejected, at the end of the day, whether it's by post, email, text or voicemail, you feel like crap regardless.

So we might as well be put out of our misery as soon as possible!

I think it would at least be amusing to be rejected by singing telegram.
