Did anyone apply to UCLA's MECN Program for Fall 2009?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.

Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?

did you hear back???

Yes, I recieved an email from the graduate division instructing me that a decision has been made on my application. It confirmed that I was admitted to the program. I still think that I am in a dream and will wake up at any moment. I also thought that I would hear either late this week or early next week so it was a surprise to me. Hopefully, everyone else will hear back soon. I still have not received anything in the mail.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats MECN 2009!! You are not in a dream, this is real life and you did it!! NSFA08 and I look forward to meeting you in the future. Musictonurse, after all admission letters/emails are sent, you will be told you are on the waiting list and what number you are. I do not know how far they go down the waiting list but I can tell you there are students in my class that made it off the waiting list a few weeks before classes began in the fall. Shelli is the only one that can tell you. You have until May to make a commitment but there is no fee required and it is not binding until you get that huge bill for tuition in August!! Puravida09, yes, the MECN program prepares us for CNL certification (based on our curriculum) but no, you are not automatically a CNL, you have to apply and pass the certification test administered by the AACN. For more info on CNL certification you can look here: http://www.aacn.nche.edu/CNC/index.htm. Our program also qualifies us for a public health nursing (PHN) certificate as well.

Congratulations MECN2009!! :yeah:Has anyone else heard yet?

Congratulations MECN2009!! :yeah:Has anyone else heard yet?

Yes, congratulations to you!!! :yeah: That is a HUGE accomplishment, since you were one of 50 people out of 400+ applicants to be accepted! That's amazing!

I wonder if a mass e-mail was sent out to all the accepted students, and another mass e-mail will be sent out to all the students who were not accepted? Otherwise, how did some people find out already while others haven't?

The sad part is that I already put down a $500 deposit for a spot at another school, so I'm not sure if that is refundable if I did get into UCLA. I really hope it's refundable.... :bowingpur

And I REALLY hope the rest of us who are still waiting got into UCLA!!! :bowingpur

Thanks everyone! NFSA08 and BerryGood30, did you guys have to complete the 6 week CNA course through SCROC during the summer before the program started? It seems that the first class in 06 had to complete the program but I'm not sure if UCLA made it mandatory for all other classes. Also, the tentative schedule that I received during orientation has students taking 17 units for the first Fall quarter. That seems like a lot of units. I am used to the quarter system but the most I have taken is 12 units. Did you guys feel overwhelmed?

MECN2009, Congrats!! How exciting! So, I guess I can assume that I was not accepted and will receive my rejection letter next week. boo :( Do you mind sharing your stats? Well, I guess I should start getting excited about USD and try to figure out how I'm going to pay for it! Good luck to everyone :)

hi musictonurse, don't count UCLA out yet. I believe that the same thing happened last year, people receiving fellowships were notified via email. All other applicants were notified by snail mail. I am getting so anxious!

I am anxious too!! please post here if you have received snail mail notifications!!

MECN2009, Did you receive a fellowship? And were you done with all of your pre-reqs? When I spoke to Shelli last year, she said the CNA requirement was taken away. Thanks ladies, I guess I'll still keep my fingers crossed, but yes - anxiety does not help. Speaking of anxiety, did anyone else find out?? I'll post if I hear anything!

i'm not a lady, im a gent, hahaha!!!
