Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.
Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?
Yep no luck. I kinda doubt they're even using it actually. I accidently went to "application status" to start and it said that I didn't send in my rec letters, transcripts, and all that jazz. Since I confirmed with Shelli already, I know that that's not true.
It seems to me that UCLA is a little technologically challenged. I mean, the site is not updated, we have to wait for snail mail. COME ON! By the way, if you accept me, I'll totally take that back. hahaha:p
haha you guys are funny!
Well at first I wasn't going to bother applying because i didn't think my academic performance was good enough, so I asked Shelli if I should bother to apply.
Shelli asked me if there were any reasons behind why i didn't do as well as expected, and I explained my reasons, which she said 'it seems you've got a very interesting story to tell' and then told me to apply and include that in my essay and that she will try and champion my entry to the rest of the committee.
I have good volunteer and work experience, but due to my cultural background, i've had many problems during the time of my study.
But i still have my doubts i'll be accepted...but who knows, I guess anything is possible.
Sarah, it sounds like you've got an interesting story so don't loose hope. And it sounds like you've worked very hard, so yes, it is possible! I'm really hoping to find out by this afternoon. I'm gonna become neurotic if I don't. Oh wait, I think I'm already in that category.
Thanks, it's very difficult not to doubt yourself at this stage!
I think i'm beyond neurotic right now!!
There was nothing in the post for me today...so another anxious night of waiting and subsequently, stalking the postman.
Here's my funny story about postmen. When I was mailing out applications, the postal clerk, a friendly, morbidly obese man, offered to give my applications "the love tap." Which didn't work for Yale, but maybe for UCLA. As I was leaving the post office that rainy day, he yelled after me: "Now, you be careful out there. Sugar melts!"

Yes, go to https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/newapp/Login.asp?topage=AdmissionStatus.asp and enter your e-mail. It'll ask for a password and I chose the forgot password and they e-mailed it to me. Hope that works for you, although I don't think it's updated, so not sure if that's very helpful. :/
