Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.
Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?
It does seem to me as well that ethnic diversity is a major component (though admittedly I haven't listened to all of the audio). Clearly, they can afford to be picky in any way they choose, but this is something beyond you're control! I'm sure that all applicants accepted are outstanding, but as we have seen, many who are rejected are as well.
I mentioned mine and it didn't help. Now that I think of it they wanted to know about your cultural or socioeconomic issues in your life in your personal statement. Oh well, I have already started to research all programs out there. I am going to apply to more programs next year.
I mentioned it in my personal statement, I don't know whether that made a difference in the decision they came to.
That's a good attitude to have martin!

Yay! 'Glad to hear you're looking into other programs, Martini. And if I was rejected already, I'd say "F-'em!" for you and me both. I'll probably be saying that tomorrow anyway!
I'm a blond-haired woman. 'Got nothin' to offer in terms of ethnic diversity.

It sounds to me like they want to increase the cultural diversty of their class.
Hmm interesting.
