Did anyone apply to UCLA's MECN Program for Fall 2009?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.

Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?

I know what you're saying. I have been sitting here reviewing my grades, personal statement, and resume, and I hope to god I was strong enough. I wish there were stats available from previous cohorts at UCLA. I have no clue as to how I compare to everyone.

Apparently the applicant pool varied. I read somewhere that an applicant had a GPA of 2.7 and was rejected at CSULA for not meeting the minimum 3.0 requirement, but then was accepted at UCLA's MECN program.

So I think they are looking for a variety of things.

But I understand what you mean, waiting around can make you start to have doubts.

really someone got in with a 2.7 gpa? Is the cum gpa more important or the one calculated using the last 60 semester or 90 quarter units?

That's what I read in a thread.

Shelli said that the last 60 semester/ 90 quarter units are what's calculated and important when considering applicants into the program.

Well, hopefully we all wowed them!!! I know we did, British neurosis, martinis, kittys, and msnapplicants, zoogurls, and all we wowed them!!! I know it!!! For sure!!!:D

Haha I hope we all get in, just so those can be our nicknames for the entire duration of the program! :nurse:

Oops. I didn't know :p

Martini, I'm going to start calling you token, since you're our token dude :)

Did I read right, that UCLA prides itself in it's diversity of it's class and therefore tries to get a 50:50 ratio of girl:boy in each cohort?

Which means us girls might be competing for around 27 places?
