Desperate for advice how to complete my nursing career by getting a LVN/RN License

  1. What would you do if you were in my situation?

      Move to a state that would allow me to sit for my LVN and do a fast track program LVN to RN

      Complete an LVN program, get my license and do a fast track LVN to RN program

      Find a BSN RN program that did not have a 5 year max. on pre-reqs start over and hope they take transfer credits

      Complete a LVN program until I find an employer that would pay for my RN fast track program

      Write a letter to my previous BSN RN school I was expelled from, asking to come back (begging for an exception)

Does anyone have any advice for my situation, I completed all the prerequisites for nursing school (which was over 5 years ago) I was accepted and completed 2 semesters of nursing school (therefore I was half done with my BSN RN 4 year degree) I was "expelled" for my ignorant opinions I posted on Facebook. (Which I am sharing with everyone to bring awareness to how social media can literally ruin your life and take what you worked so hard for and punish you so bad) This was the worst thing I have ever gone through. That being said I was thinking about re-applying to nursing schools and starting over or letting them accept what courses were equivalent in their course outline. I am desperate since I am working for low pay as a medical assistant. I have been looking into going back and starting my RN nursing career over but have had no luck since my pre-requesites (anatomy, physiology, micro etc) was over 5 years ago. Therefore, they want me to start ALL OVER AGAIN! So I have been researching LVN programs in Texas, and it appears I would have to go through an accredited LVN school to sit for the boards. I know in Cali and a few other states you can use previous schooling hours and work experience, since I have been a MA for over 10 years.

I am desperate and if anyone could please read this and give me any advice possible and options to paths I could take to eventually get my RN or LVN I would be so honored! PLEASE HELP! :unsure:

Most schools require that your prerequisites, particularly science and math, be no more than 5 years old for them to accept it. I'm sorry that you refuse, but if you want to get into an RN program, you may have to repeat them anyway.

It sounds like you've been given advice and know what you need to do, you just refuse to do it. I see no solution if you're not willing to put in the work.

I appreciate your advice, it seems like my first two comments are telling me to "suck it up and go for the gold." I can list all of the cons like how I am in $20,000 student loan debt and this will just be more going back to school for years and years. But you both are right if I want it I need to do everything I can do to get it. I know I can do it! I appreciate your attempts to help. I hope more people could be a little more open minded with different options and what they would do.... please keep the comments coming they are wonderful!

"Open minded" doesn't really matter. Realistic advice is the only thing that matters.

Well, go for the LVN now and work part time while getting your ADN. Take is one step at a time. Will take a bit longer, but it will spread out the cost as well as gain experience before moving to the next step.

You messed up. Thats not their fault.

You waited way too long. Thats not their fault.

In life when you want to reach a goal there are hoops to jump through.... go ahead and start jumping... you may find that after one semester that your able to get in to a rn program.

In what state does MA experience count as being able to sit for the NCLEX-PN? None that I know of. You could maybe sit for the CNA exam but that's it.

Sounds like you are going to have to start over. Start at a community college. They are usually accredited and are affordable.

I know in California it's possible to become an LVN with CNA experience. MA experience would not be acceptable, though.

They allow CNAs to challenge the LVN exam with just work experience? Wow.
